So close. We ran instead of walking so I didn’t wanna stop it. She felt like she was flying. Her feet moved so fast she thought for sure she was no longer touching the ground. She hoped she was almost at her car, but it was hard to tell from the tears that blurred her vision.

She could barely make out her grey Subaru but she still fumbled with her keys to unlock it. Just as she was about to press the button, she dropped them as a hand touched her shoulder, apparently with enough force to turn her around.

He didn’t answer her with words, but instead with a kiss. And she couldn’t help but forget her fears and self-doubts. Her kissing him back solidified that almost was never enough for them.
