still not entirely sure what I wanna do for an Upstead AU. 😅😬🤷♀️
I have an actual story (like regular fiction) about a detective and a witness that I could maybe work with. Idk.
Would y’all be interested in an AU where Jay’s still a detective, but Hailey’s a normal person who just happens to witness a part of a crime? It’d be a mystery, but honestly more romance than anything cause why not.
Kim Kevin Voight and Adam would all be cops. Vanessa would be Hailey’s roommate still, just not a cop. They’d work normal non first responder jobs.
Lemme know!
okay I’m done I swear. Scene posted below ofc:

S06E22 part 4
Jay - Voight just left and he said something about… About me running the unit. We lost.
Hailey - Kelton is who he is. His time for reckoning is coming.
Jay - Not in time for this unit. For us.
Hailey - We’ve only been partners a couple years. You’ll forget about me just fine.
Jay - Hailey…
Hailey - We’ll be all right.
If you ever want to know what holding back soul crushing feelings looks like, look at these two. Because there they are, talking like they always do; but their hearts are heavy and hurting. Their eyes are saying what their mouths cannot.
Things like “I need you” and “Don’t go.”
But Hailey’s scared, she’s scared of what she could lose if the unit is (at the time they didn’t know what would happen) disbanded. She was scared about admitting her feelings if things blew up in smoke afterwards.
And Jay? Poor Jay, his feelings were threatening to spill out at any moment; but he just couldn’t find the perfect thing to say. Because Hailey had shut it down, put her wall up before he had a chance. Understandly so (see above); but still, then the moment was gone. Lost. Like they were.
And they knew that even though a lot of things were up in the air, one thing that would remain was how much they cared: about each other + about their partnership. Jay could never forget about the one woman who stood by him despite all the times he drove her away. He fought with his demons and Hailey stayed. She stayed. She’s staying. She’s not going anywhere. And neither are his feelings for her (and vice versa). 💙💙
@cpdhalstudfan @eternalxblossom anything else to add captains? 😭😭

T r a c y 🖤 S p i r i d a k o s
I rewatched this episode recently and just realized Hailey actually sort of complimented Jay..?? On his sense of humor 😅 so this was like upstead before upstead was actually a (possible) thing - love it 😍
