Oh, would you look at that? I seem to be posting Steve Miller Au fan fic again!!!
I haven't quite gotten back into the Kanera groove (but trust me. I will. *grins in future fan fics*
First lines under the cut!

New chapter's up!! And keep an eye on that fic, I might update it again later today so it's finished in time for Kanera Week.
Fic intro under the cut!!
"There is no unspoken thing between us."
"Well, that's a Catch-22. Because if you said there was, it would be spoken, and then you'd be a liar. So by saying there isn't, you're telling the truth, and admitting there is."
Marvel quote—and you know which couple this is for 😉
Oh, you KNOW I do!!!
Pairing: Kanan Jarrus/Hera Syndulla
Word Count: 3,559
Warnings/Tags: Rated G (for the fetching green vest Kanan's wearing)
Having deep cover operatives in the Empire was an important part of running a spy network. They gave Kanan some of his best information and helped him sneak the objects of the Empire’s rage right out from under the ISB’s nose more often than not.
But it could be a little inconvenient when he needed to pick up data from them. Because it almost inevitably involved him getting into some kind of ridiculous disguise and sneaking into some place the Empire didn’t want him in.
Case in point, he thought wryly, smoothing down the front of the fancy vest he was wearing over his dress shirt. “How do I look?” he asked, his voice quiet enough that none of the guests around him could hear.
“Ridiculous as always,” Kasmir’s voice came from the earpiece he wore, and Kanan rolled his eyes. The rest of the Yellow Submarine’s crew had demanded that he wear it, partially because they were bored and partially because Kasmir claimed Kanan had a habit of not giving them proper updates about what was going on. So they’d hacked the security cameras, and Kanan was set up with an earpiece. “Otherwise you’re fine. Remind me what your plan is again?”
Can I get a uhhhhh... domesticity and karaoke singing for Kanera?
(And thank you so much, you're amazing, bestie! ❤)
Full disclosure this got a lot longer than I intended it to, but here you go!!!
Pairing: Kanan x Hera
Word count: 2,690
Warning/Tags: None, rated G (for a ginormous amount of family feels)
It was later established that the whole thing had been Ezra’s idea. No one was surprised by this, and he was insufferably smug about it until Zeb threatened to toss him off of the Ghost. Then he quieted down a bit
Regardless of whose idea it was, the fact remained that one evening they’d wound up on Garel with no mission until two days later and a lot of time to kill. Kanan and Hera’s ideas of how to spend this time (cleaning their room, maintenance work, Jedi practice for Ezra) were almost immediately shot down. And then Ezra had mentioned he’d spotted a flyer talking about karaoke at a nearby bar.
The obvious flaws were pointed out pretty quickly. They were rebels and trying to keep a low profile, so karaoke might not be the best idea. Kanan and Zeb had a habit of punching out idiots at bars. Ezra, you’re fifteen for crying out loud we’re not letting you go to a bar.
But somehow, Ezra, Sabine and Zeb argued Kanan and Hera off of this wall, and around fifteen minutes later the whole crew, plus Rex who Ezra had spotted along the way and dragooned into coming with, were heading to the bar Ezra had spotted.
When they got there, Kanan noted-- to his relief-- that it was less of a bar and more of a cantina. And definitely not as bad as some of the places I worked, he noted, studying the cleanish floors and the relatively tame crowd. The lighting was actually pretty nice-- strings of white lights hung along the walls, along with a few actual lights in the ceiling, and a spotlight on the stage for karaoke.
“Not as bad as I expected,” Kanan murmured to Hera, who laughed.
“Knowing some of the bars I’ve found you in, I shudder to think what you were expecting.”
“Found me in? You say that like I was trying to get away from you,” Kanan joked. “You should know better than that by now.”
Shooting him a quick grin, Hera said, “Oh, don’t worry, love. I do.”
Chapter eight has arrived, and we're THIS close to the conclusion! Also, Kanera. Also, perhaps some Jedi boys who aren't Kanan? Only one way to find out-- read the tags
Nah, kidding. Please read the fic instead, it's much more entertaining
We're almost there!!! Plus, this chapter rocks, full disclosure.
(heh. Shoulda said that about the one where Kanan jumped off a cliff, amiright?)
New chapter alert!!! Short, I'll admit, but sweet. Hera has probing questions to ask, Kanan has reckless decisions to make, and all in all, things could be going better.
But it could be worse. No one's jumped off a cliff.
....yet
Chapter two is here!!! And I finally know how many there are now (I think) so that's a plus!!
I think every time I post a chapter, I'll end the post with an out of context quote from the chapter, just for fun. So here's today's:
"I got kidnapped? Again?"
What are some of your favorite Kanera fanfics?
Ori'vod, you're too good to me. You even wrote fics, not fic.
All that to say, here are my top five favorite Kanera fanfics, in no order--
1. "Blackbird", by Okadiah. It's very intense, a little darker than my average read, but SUCH a good story. No spoilers, obviously, but watching Kanan handle everything he's going through, and how he really starts to turn from the darker path he's been on for Hera and Ezra. MANY feels. Also, there's a fake dating chapter. I rest my case.
2. "following a lover's path," by Pontmercyingtilthecowscomehome. Soft Kanera feels, Kanan buying gifts for his wifey, Hera can crochet. And the way the author wrote Kanan was... really, really good. They added these little details that I just kinda LOVED. A+ writing style
3. "Union", by rebel_wren. This was the first fic I ever read on AO3, and it was SO worth it. Domestic Kanera, wedding, SO MUCH FLUFF. Post-war, set in a Kanan Lives au. I rest my case.
4. "Words Fail Me", chapter two, by pretchatta. I read the second Swoon June fic they wrote and I've... reread it many, many times. I JUST LIKE WATCHING HERA SWOONING OVER HER HUSBAND OKAY?????
5. "Chess Pieces", by Synapse. The writing styles? The A New Dawn vibes? The concept in general? Kanan falling for his space wife so fast? A +++ CONTENT MY FRIENDS
Anyways, thanks for the ask! There are about eleventy billion others I love, and more will be added as the days go on, but these are my current faves.
