Top five favorite Marvel movies?

1) Infinity War - I will never forget watching that in the theater and the reactions of everyone after the snap. As each person started to fade away, it was incredible to experience that with everyone else in the theater. I remember after the movie I was giving my son a hug because he was sad. And this lady came over to console him a little, and it was so sweet. It was like we had all gone through something together, and we all hurt together. But it was okay...because we'd done it together.

2) Endgame - The Avengers Assemble scene was another one that was just incredible to have experienced in a theater with my kids. I grew up during a time when Batman Forever was the what my dad would've taken me to see. To be able to share something like THIS with my kids was amazing. Infinity War and Endgame were both two of the greatest movie-going experiences I've had in my life.

3) Thor Ragnarok - I laughed so hard during this movie. It was so entertaining. I LOVED it. And I loved the character development for Loki and the relationship development between Loki and Thor. The soundtrack was so much fun, and the action was great!

4) Iron Man - I have to give some love to the movie that kicked it all off. I knew from the moment Robert Downey Jr. was cast that he'd be an amazing Tony Stark, and I was not disappointed. I loved the character growth that he experienced in this movie. And at the time the special effects and everything were very exciting. Also, loved the soundtrack!

5) Ant-Man 2 - Okay so this might seem like a weird choice...But I love Ant Man. I loved that Ant Man 2 included the Wasp. Scott is doing everything he can to be an amazing dad. And I love how supportive his ex-wife and her new husband are of him and how their whole dynamic is. It just made me feel good watching it and happy on a lot of levels.

Honorable Mentions:

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - Kudos for making me both laugh and cry. I loved this movie!!!!

Shang-Chi - So I saw this movie at the drive-in theater. And there were parts that were really hard for me to make out visually. BUT what I saw, I really really loved.

In my opinion, Thor: Ragnarok is one of the greatest Marvel movies of all time. All the rest of these are really great, too!! I really like Ant-Man-- as someone who is a huge sucker for good dad figures, humor, and heists, those movies are right up my alley. Also, Scott Lang is pretty much what I think adult parent Ezra Bridger would be like

One thing I wish Disney/Marvel, maybe just action movies and tv shows in general, would do more often is sit with the grief and trauma they put characters through. They create these characters with feelings and thoughts and they put them through hell and expect them to bounce back from that every time, move on as if losing the whole of something that made you who you are is nothing. Are you afraid to show a character in mourning? Melting down and pushing through it? It’s such an easy way to get your audience invested because we want to see them be better. To heal. Not act like nothing ever happened. Have a laugh and move on from something so damn traumatic. Let them cry. Let them hurt. Let them fight back in spite of all that, but never let them forget.

Edit: They started to do that with Thor’s character, I think. But they also turned that into a joke and I’m still not over it.

Shang-Chi Freaking Rocked And Here's Why

Alright, I'm writing this post out of spite because I heard someone didn't like it. AND WE CAN'T HAVE THAT.

(I really don't understand why you wouldn't like it??? It's amazing??? And liking things is so much more fun that not liking them usually??? But hey, that's my opinion, man)

Anyhoo, prepare for a long post full of the reasons Shang-Chi was a truly stellar movie! Much though I'd love to go through every moment in the movie and scream about it for nerdy reasons, I'm going to be a professional nerd and offer reasons that will appeal to people other than just nerdy glee. I hope. (there will be some nerdy glee, though)

Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings spoilers under the cut!
