A lying bear smiles…Inquisitor greatly approves.
Another New Chapter
A one-shot, all fluff prompt fill completed for a Cullenites group. Got the prompt anonymously, but it turns out to have been @cullenstairshenanigans!:
Cullen glanced over Evelyn’s bare back as he blinked the sleep out of his eyes. It was still strange to wake to these new white oak walls. Creamy and smooth, these were nothing at all like his quarters back in Skyhold, and felt all the more different for the lack of messengers constantly barging through the cottage’s doors. Two towering windows looked out over an impossibly verdant valley, and had worked perfectly to ease his claustrophobia in the night, the same as his open roof once had. He hadn’t even realized how tiresome it had become to have to climb a ladder each time he wanted to retreat to his quarters until he no longer had to do it anymore, and especially during those times he needed to carry something else up with him.
Each morning he opened his eyes with a part of him still expecting to see the large gap in the ceiling, and the creeping Ivy vines that wound their way in along the weathered stone, and each morning he was relieved to remember that the Inquisition had been disbanded, and he had already embarked upon yet another new chapter in his life. As strange as it still felt sometimes, it was a chapter he had been thinking about for the last two years, ever since Evelyn had returned to Skyhold with the news that Corypheus had been defeated. He’d been thinking about certain aspects of it in great detail in fact, especially lately.
He felt himself smile almost involuntarily as he admired the smooth lines of her back while she slumbered warm and quiet beside him. The sheets had been kicked down to the top of her buttocks, leaving exposed that delicious curve of her spine that dipped down into her tapered waist. The landscape of her flesh was populated with various nicks and scars, remnants of her life that somehow seemed almost agonizingly precious despite the violence they represented. But no matter what had happened in the past, what foes she had faced, what battles she had fought, she was here now, alive. The world had been saved, and there was little need for fighting anymore.

Ferelden Brown Chapter 6
Cullen Rutherford/Mage!Female Trevelyan
A small prequel to Winter’s Grasp from Cullen’s POV with the intention of detailing their relationship before the destruction of Haven. They can be read any order, it doesn’t matter. Safe for work with no archive warnings.
And he wanted to say it. Please don’t be afraid, you don’t have to be. Not of him, not when he dreamt of the feeling of her soft skin or of kissing her, her beautiful smile wide and blue eyes half shut as she kissed him back. Not when all he ever seemed to think about was a way to put her at ease, get more and hear her speak to him, notice that he honestly cared.

Part 1 || Part 2 || Part 2 ½ || Part 3 || Part 4 || Part 4 ½ || Part 5 || Part 6 || Part 7 ||
He was naught but a boy when he last came here. So many things have changed, so many years have passed, death and blood and war, the hopes of his youth depleted, replaced by clearer perceptions—the kind of freedom he’s never allowed himself before. The ground still squelches and suckles under his feet, and the moon still shimmers pale on the surface of the lake, but he stands taller, not as steady as he should, and yet the broken ease with which he carries himself speaks volume of the path he’s walked, of the obstacles he’s overcome.
He’s come a long way.
Everything looks just as he remembers, but nothing feels the same, and it’s odd, the pressure lifting off his shoulders now, relief, a different man, older yet younger, and he knows he’s spent much too long having faith in ideals and in people that shouldn’t have mattered. He knows and it flutters in his stomach when he looks sideways, Alistair walking calm beside him on the wooden dock, awed and framed in moonlight—Cullen can’t help but smile, gazing at him with his lungs full and a sheepish glint in his eyes.
Home has never felt closer.
“Ahhhh,” Alistair sighs blithe and poised, most of his weight gathered on his left foot; he doesn’t need his cane anymore, even if his right leg pains him still, and he limps and he sways and he wobbles, but he breathes, and Cullen shifts closer, one beholden step farther from the demons that nearly took him away.
“A beautiful sight, is it not?” Cullen simpers, and his eyes are riveted on Alistair.
“Pretty as a painting… and rather deserted, too. Is it why you brought me here? To have me all to yourself. Alone.”
“The thought may have crossed my mind,” he grins, and there’s a quiet chuckle rising between them, reaching his eyes and causing his lashes to flutter hazier, the same brazen warmth in Alistair’s gaze.
Composure (Cullen x Trevelyan, NSFW)
Cullen is being a tease. Third in the Ever After series. (AO3)
“Pardon?”
“You heard me.” She has indeed, if the hot flush on her cheeks is anything to go by. Only she couldn’t be sure he’s actually just uttered those words to her. She swallows.
“Could you… repeat that?”
Cullen moves in even closer, all but pinning her against the war room door. When he leans in, his scent, warmth and voice invade her senses all at once, and her body instantly reacts like it always does, the heat blooming deep inside her.
Queue filler. Tsk, tsk, commander.
Dragon Age Dads: Alistair
Alistair is the playful dad, the one who will chase the whole neighborhood around and make monster noises and then cry for mercy when they tackle him down. He’s openly and constantly affectionate, both verbally and physically. He gives bear hugs and sloppy cheek kisses and whispers “I love you” in their ears and yells it across the hall in front of their friends.
He is a disaster at discipline. When little eyes tear up, it’s all over for Papa and the other parent has to come in and set things straight. The kids know it, and they play him. When you want to hear a “yes”, you go to Papa, and half the time he forgets that he really, really should check with his partner before he says yes and he got in trouble for that last time. And the time before. But despite it all, the children would rather step on a nail than be the cause of his disappointed face, and they definitely remember that one time he got really, truly angry.
He wants everything for his children that he didn’t have. He wants them to have all the toys and love and support he can give them. He wants them to know that they are important and precious for who they are. He is very careful never to do anything to let them think that they are an inconvenience or that their value can be defined by other people.
@elfrooted maybe this counts as a smile?

Okay so I was looking for this audio FOREVER but I couldn’t find it! So I just posted it myself. It belongs to Leofina on youtube. Alistair, Anders and Kaidan. This makes me cry every time :’-) <3
My phone won't let me do the little symbols, but for your prompt meme could you write something for the heart? Please and thank you. :)
–Sorry this took so long! I got a little away from me while and had to do some major editing seeing all my weird run on sentences from last night’s drinking! –

Reports (Cullen and Nerine, pre-relationship, sfw)
Nerine up till recently had been Cullen’s office helping him with reports, not that he asked her to but appreciated the gesture all the same (especially after her continual pestering to help him). The first few times Cullen thought she was intentionally putting herself out because she felt bad about the amount of work he’s repeatedly dealt. He dissuaded her help after that, only to learn later from Leliana that Nerine had grown accustomed to working long hours and sleeping little., Six years worth of night duty and daytime scouting had all but left her an insomniac. He had a hard time trying to find the right words to say to Nerine to make amends for his assumption and really wouldn’t speak to her again until he found her that night on the battlements.
“Leliana tells me you’re avoiding me because you think you’ve insulted me.” Nerine looked his way as he approached her, standing next to her as she looked back to the courtyard.
“I-uh, I made an assumption and I shouldn’t have.” Cullen started, interrupted by Nerine’s laugh and when she looked back at him she noticed he was giving her a slightly confused look.
“Well all make assumptions.” Nerine said with a sigh. “The courtyard is looking better.” Her ability to make any situation more confusing was only outshined by her wonderful talent for changing the subject.
“Yes it is, although I have a feeling you’re not out here to get a good look at the courtyard, not at night anyway, on a cloudy night no less.”
“No, I suppose not.” She stretched and pulled her jacket tighter about her and pulled her hood forward, obscuring most of her face from Cullen who couldn’t help but laugh a little. “Something funny, Commander?”
“Forgive me but to see the Inquisitor shaking like a leaf on the wind. It takes the intimidating factor from you, I’m afraid.” He laughed and though he couldn’t see her well, Cullen could tell she was making a face at him.
“It’s freezing out here, I’m surprised life can survive this far in the mountains.” She fluttered her heavy jacket around her. “What I wouldn’t give for a fire to throw myself into.”
“A bit excessive, Inquisitor.” Cullen gestured towards his office. “If you’d rather we can take this conversation into my office, you’ll at least be out of the cold.” He rubbed the back of his neck, he could feel his anxiety around her trickle in. One minute they could be having a flowing conversation, the next one or both of them would be nervous wrecks and it made Cullen wonder if she may have been developing the same feelings for him as he was for her. “If you want to that is, you certainly aren’t obligated to keep me company.”
Nerine laughed and stepped from the wall, “I’d like that. I would most likely end up walking the perimeter for the next hour or so before crawling to my quarters half frozen.”
So there they were, in Cullen’s office. Nerine had helped herself to a small stack of missives, annotating them for Cullen, weeding out the drivel so he wouldn’t be forced to suffer through it. Between trading stacks of reports they traded entertaining stories of years past, the kind of stories that were funny without giving away anything too embarrassing and nothing that would bring up any past regrets and sadness. It was refreshing to discuss things like two simple adults and not as Commander and Inquisitor of the Inquisition.
Nerine had been prattling on for some time before she noticed that Cullen hadn’t once asked if she was finished with her stack of papers. Looking up from the current report she found him sleeping over his desk and wasn’t quite sure what to do. She could wake him and send him to his bed, which would probably be more comfortable option but she knew if she did that he would insist on working on this seemingly endless pile of reports, claiming he was no longer tired. On the other hand, Nerine could let Cullen sleep and though he’d probably wake sore at least he would have gotten some needed rest. She chose the latter and went back to work.
The sun’s first rays were barely cresting over the mountains when Harding was making her way to Cullen’s office with some reports that had been delivered the night before. She barely had opened the door when she heard the quiet sounds of two sleeping forms. Poking her head around the door only to see Nerine and Cullen both sleeping over his desk, one on either side. Shaking her head, she closed the door as quietly as possible and walked back to her quarters.
“They’ll make a cute couple.”

If I had to use D&D alignment system Darrian would be Neutral Good. He doesn’t mind breaking some rules if its in the interest of justic or to help the weak and protect. He’s patient and likes to hear both sides of a story before making decisions. He is generally easy going, and it takes a lot to make him real angry. Once he establishes bonds with people he becomes protective of them and cares almost like they are family.
