Trans Day of Visibility falls on a difficult time for everyone this year, but it’s a cathartic reminder that isolation is not total. With some self-permissed indulgence I wanted to express myself virtually if I am unable to physically right now. Looking like a cross between an enamel pin and an accidental Metsona, I bring you the trans flag of gender freedom, plum blossoms of my family heritage (for is Taiwan not enough for the world stage?), a rose for my country, and the pansexual flag. I cannot yet fathom the full magnitude of loss and suffering in our communities, lives paused and stories never told kept hushed in our throats. As much irreparable harm this will inflict, I hope we grow closer through the strength of our humanity. Thank you to our loved ones, elders, healthcare, social, food service, transportation, sanitation, education, delivery, factory, and countless other underserved workers keeping our society afloat during these times. Stay well and stay safe.
