I'm a strong believer that the Vault Scene remains unmatched
ethan hunt’s dossier from mi1 dvd extras
— I cant believe the reason ethan hunt got recruited to the IMF is because he pulled the “largest-ever” prank at the CIA academy
Hey i saw your post about Ethan’s backstory being recruited for pulling a prank, when was that implied/confirmed? In which movie? Because I might have missed it?
apparently it's from a DVD bonus feature from the first movie!
Thank you so much!
Okay they escalated a little bit when it comes to his language skills but I AM SCREAMING! 😂 can you imagine Ethan being bored at a farm constantly pranking his neighbors? I HAVE to see that!
Also him performing this prank! I need that as well! Give me a flashback with young Ethan pranking everyone and it is light hearted and fun and we all die laughing! Please!
MI7 thoughts
After Ethans whole team got killed in movie 1 and he says:
Its not the last time the IMF disowns him and tries to kill him. We see it again in MI3, kinda in MI4 with the russian police following him everywhere, in MI5 when they cancel the IMF and shortly in MI6. But he is never really angry about it. He knows it is a mistake and is relaxed.
But why will he be angry in MI7? I mean sure as a throwback to MI1 but I think because after MI1 his team was never really in danger. In MI7 his team will be in danger, porbably close to being killed off... like his first team. Someone is threating is family, this is personal. Ethan being in danger, he is used to that, he can deal with that. But losing yet another family? That will make him angry, he will panic.... gosh i am so hyped for MI7
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (1996) dir. Brian De Palma + IMDb trivia Inspired by @rogerdeakinsdp
Love (?) that from movie 1 onwards Cruise keeps on crashing on the floor. If I remeber correctly he crashed on the ground in MI4 when he breaks into the vatican over the wall because they calcuacted the length of the rope wrong, he crashed on the car in MI3 when they especed in germany and parts of the building were hitting and hurting him, during the final car scene in MI4 a piece of glass got stuck in his neck, he crashed into the house in MI6 when he ran after Walker walked and broke his foot. Did i forgot something?
It’s so hard to keep track of these things.
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (1996)
I am so excited MI7 will do a callback to this scene! because the fact that Ethan knows magic tricks and no movie so far made use of it is a crime agaisnt me personally
Happy 25th anniversary to Mission Impossible! Brought to you by "same old Ethan", 25 years of an incredible journey, we are blessed. Mission Impossible 7 & 8 will take us back to where it all began, let's just wait and see. Light the fuse! 👓🚒💽🚄🚁🧗♂️💃🏥🌃🧤💄💋🗼🚓🏍🚖🎢🚂🔥💥
From a blue room to a real train.
Say what you want about Cruise his dedication to stunts is amazing. CGI? Nowhere near him
But there is one reason why I struggle so much with MI1 is that it feels so outdated. This movie was produced 1996 but feels like someone was not able to let go the “good old days of spy TV”.
A chew gum that is actually a bomb... in 1996? Come on! I think at this point we long left behind the “telephone in shoe”-times.
Also the whole Langley scene is cool but it is like watching Star Wars. Temperature scans and lasers but no cameras? This is how you imagined the head quarter of the CIA in 1996?
Also the female characters have actually zero agency in the movies. I would expect a little more feminism, especially when thelma and louise was already aired five years ealier...
I do not like MI2 but they got rid of all that dust, that MI1 struggles from so much. They realized the real danger are defeinitly not white man in suits, smoking cigaretts and have wifes half their age. MI2 feels so much more appropiate to the time it was filmed in. Mi1... not so much
I love that MI1 said: Here is our cool new hero, Ethan Hunt. Aaaaaand 15 minutes in, his whole team is dead and he is traumatized.
I love to see how that turns him humble and broken so quick, because when the movie starts he is the cool new kid who laughs at his team mates and then he quickly has anxiety and become more calm
Guess CMQ will also pick that up again
I think one of the best example why you do not fuck with fans is Jim Phelps in Mission impossible. people today are still angry that Jim Phelps was turned into the bad guy and killed off... 1996.

The whole train scene feels like a big call back to the first movie. Today they just do not need 10 minutes to send an e-mail anymore
I thought so too!
Glad I am not they only one who picked up on that. And Chris confirmed that he does a lot of callbacks to the first movie

How Ethan interacts with the women he is sexual/romanticly engaged with during the franchise
Ethan in
MI1: I need to pretend i am a couple with one of my colleagues. I hug her and give her a kiss on the cheek. I also have big crush on the widow of my boss. I give her some tender looks and touchs, but not more because that would be inappropriate
MI2: I throw sexual innuendos at a woman i never met before.I stare at her boobs for minutes and signalize her that i would be totally happy if she (wearing a super short dress) would sit on my face. Then we are having sex and the producers will be pretend she is the love of my live and i would risk everything for her after knowing her for 48 hours and having sex with her once.
MI3: I have a wife now and we do stuff together: Dinner partys, kissing, having sex, she killing me, we killing people together. You know, typical married couple stuff.
MI4: I miss my wife. But for a mission i need to kiss one of my colleagues. Before kissing her i ask for her permission because that is what you do.
MI5: I still miss my wife. But i guess i have a little crush on this assassin who trys to kill me. So i will gaze at her for some seconds while she is wearing a bikini.
MI6: I STILL miss my wife. A woman forces a kiss at me that i do not responds it. But the assassin is back and i think i am in love with her. After saving the world together i take her hand because that is a good was to start a relationship
Can Hollywood finally stop this super weird “ my husband is dead since five minutes and i am allready making out with the main male character” trend?!
finally watched the first mission impossible movie. Not a bad movie. That they need more then five minutes or more to send a file via e-mail was really cute.
And the scene at the beginning where Ethan blows up the aquarium to escape from the restaurant and suddently the whole restaurant is exploding, water everywhere and people are flying around... that was a little bit... over the top?!
But i prefer the humor of the new movies. But MI1 had some moments that were gold. The thing with the knife?! Like it was super obvious it was the same and i didn’t get it. But on the other hand it was super obvious that Krieger was a traitor. But i was unsure about Claire. Was it this super creepy Hollywood “my husband is dead since five minutes and i am allready making out with the main character” trend or was she really a traitor?
