Threads is not available in Germany yet. But I really hope you all are on there and tell him respectfully that we love Ilsa and that she is more then just a love interest. We never wanted to see her and Ethan on honeymoon, splitting up the team. We wanted to see them as family, kick ass, rescuing the world, and them retiring somewhere together because after everything Ethan and Ilsa went through they deserve that
Ilsa doesn’t deserve such an ending, reducing her to yet another replaceable love interest. MCQ doesn’t want her to be a boring love interest but this is what the ending made her into. One of many, too old, easy to replace. And this is so disrespectful to Ilsa and women in general

McQ: We had talked about the resolution of Ethan and Ilsa, the way that it did resolve, we also knew that we did not want any romance between Ethan and Ilsa... we didnt want anything remotely romantic because we didnt... it was very very important to us, Ilsa be an individuated character and an equal, not a romantic interest. We felt that that was reductive.

If MCQ is clever he lets MI7 part 1 end with Ethan being killed and then MI8 is just a clever tale how Ethan tricked everyone into thinking he is dead but actually he is still alive and takes down the enemy
Am I mad we still haven’t got an Ethan/Ilsa kiss? Yes
But I am so glad MCQ is looking at his action movie and asks: “Is a kiss logical at this point, from a story POV?” Every other action writer would have let them kiss, just because Ethan and Ilsa are male and female. But MCQ really thinks about their relationship. He cares so much about his characters and the relationship they have which ecah other. No one of them is a throw away trope.
Guess I will make a meta post soon where I point out all the callbacks CMQ did in MI5 and MI6 to the previous movies
CMQ already showed how much he cares for the MI movies when he took the syndicate - that was teased at the end of MI4 - and continued with it, instead of coming up with his own new storyline. Because he loves the continuity
In MI5 was already have the special contact in someone’s eye (MI4) and the rabbit foot (MI3)

Do you know why Chris Mcquarrie keeps on deleting his Twitter posts?
McQ periodically wipes his Twitter clean to start over. When asked he's just said that his tweets are set to self destruct, it's just kinda what we've come to expect from him. (I kind of get the appeal tho, wouldn't mind wiping clean my Twitter to start over again.) this is also why I got in the habit of screenshoting his tweets, bc they will be gone one day.
