Benji always plays hard to get. 

We know he’s gonna cave and help Ethan with whatever he needs.

I drew the first pose and then suddenly felt the urge to animate it. I don’t do 2D animation, so it’s pretty simple and rough, but it was really fun!

It’s a very affectionate relationship. They care about each other. Ethan is very grateful to have Benji there to be his back-up, but he also doesn’t want to get him hurt. He appreciates that he’s on this kind of crusade to discover who the Syndicate is controlled by, and he doesn’t really want Benji to get wrapped up in it, because he thinks he’ll be in danger. Whereas Benji is worried about Ethan, and he is… he wants to be along for the ride. He trained for this. That’s why he joined the field training program and, as such, wants to be there to back Ethan up. There’s a sweet little moment when they have an argument about that, which, you know, Benji, for once, wins…

For those like myself who ship the obscure ship of Ethan and Benji in the Mission Impossible franchise, no joke the two share at least THREE longing looks at each other in Fallout.

The film legit stops for a short second a few times to show these two get along so well and look into each other’s eyes and flirt, it’s CRAZY. They don’t share as many moments together as they do in Rogue Nation or anything but like damn this ship is valid af. Doesn’t help that Pegg confirmed that he thinks Benji crushes on Ethan.

I’m telling you, if Benji was a female character he would have been the damn love interest based on the position he is often placed in the narrative with Ethan. Heteronormativity strikes again.
