Damn the writer of around the world in 80 days did not have to come for DT’s entire body of work like this. She was truly like yeah book Fogg was boring and we were wondering what to do but David came on board and we said well what choice do we have but to make him an unwell girl who can’t throw a punch
#it was that or DT’s other speciality (psychopath villain) so they went the right direction

Sometimes I remember there will be no second season of Around the world in 80 days because Disney announced their own Jules Verne adaptation, so the whole European Jules Verne universe was cancelled
And now Disney is not even airing their 20000 leagues under the sea adaptation so cancelling the whole European universe was completely pointless. We could have it all

#when I read the book as a kid I always considered him as aroace#not that I knew those terms back then#but I was always convinced he didn’t married#Aouda because he loved her#but because he wanted to protect her#i always thought that he just don’t love people#but enjoy the collections he has with his friends#phileas fogg#ATWI80D#so I was kinda disappointed in the show for bringing up a past love

really, Around The World in 80 Days has it all. an adorable interracial romance. healthy platonic friendship between a man and a woman. bullies getting what they deserve. appreciation of foreign cultures. exs parting on good terms without any grudges. a cast that isn’t just the same five BBC actors as usual. critique of British Empire colonialism. a hot air balloon. top-tier performances from all the cast. a Hans Zimmer soundtrack. David Tennant being emotionally vulnerable and getting his shirt ripped open

I finally caved in, accepted I'm not watching Around the World in 80 Days 2021 any time soon, and read a full recap of the series. And then it came to mind that we haven't heard anything about season 2 so far? Which is weird considering it was greenlit even before s1 aired. Any insider scoop? Something I might have missed?

So yeah, it is cancelled because Disney is doing the „Nemo“ series, which will explore Nemo’s life before he became captain. Bbc, ZDF and the French tv channel saw no point in doing a season 2 when they have to compete against Disney.
Same as Persuasion vs Netflix persuasion 😐

On IMDB the episodes are still up (unlike the other Persuasion that was completely scrapped) and somewhere I saw it was Journey to the Center of the Earth instead???

No this was a spin off, that they wanted to produce separately because they were so amazed by the feedback to 80 days. This was also before Disney said they will do Nemo. There have been no updates so far so we can assume they also cancelled that because of Nemo is successful we can assume that Disney will also do the other stories….
