[ I’ve seen a few ‘everyone loves Marinette AU’s’ and a couple Marvel DC ‘all the mentors want THEIR kid to end up with Marinette AU’s’ and well frankly! I felt inspired! So I present to you my new prompt / AU thing! In which all the most powerful / rich / popular people in Paris decide to play matchmaker… ]

It starts when Adrien and Kagami have a less than AMICABLE break up according to their parents and the media anyway in reality it was a really REALLY dull break up. The pair have been ‘dating’ (using each other as an excuse to go out and experience normal teenage stuff) since they were 15. Now at 17 soon to be 18 the pair decided to publicly break up in order to pursue other people and interests. The problem is they never told their parents the truth so both Gabriel and Kagami’s mother Tomeo feel protective and concerned about what must surely be an upsetting first heartbreak for their child. And okay maybe both parents take that out on each other and both get a bit defensive and protective. And MAYBE it ends with Tomeo vowing to get revenge for her daughter. Enter, Marinette. Up and coming fashion designer for the rich and famous! She’s single, talented, and as far as Tomeo knows Gabriel is interested in the girl for her talent. So what better revenge could exist but having Marinette take an interest in Kagami!

Marinette and Kagami childhood friends AU

We’ve seen Adrinette childhood friends, but what about Kagaminette childhood friends?

Kagami moved to France from Japan when she was around 5, and Marinette helped her learn French.

She still goes to a private school, but her and Marinette hang out on the weekends all the time and Marinette often comes to her fencing lessons

They both still fall in love with Adrien, but they don’t fight over him or let it put any animosity between them. Instead, they decide that they’ll honor whatever decision Adrien makes and gush about him together

Marinette doesn’t have as much trouble talking to Adrien because hanging out with Kagami has helped her become more assertive.

Kagami gets a miraculous wayyyyy sooner than in cannon and doesn’t reveal her identity.

Marinette, Adrien, and Kagami hang out all the time. Marinette and Kagami love spending time with both of these people, and they also see if they can get Adrien to favor one of them over the other, but they end up making Adrien feel like a third wheel ALL the time.

He does develop a crush on both of them AND Ladybug, and he’s SO stressed out about it all the time. Plagg thinks it’s HILARIOUS.

Eventually, Marinette meets Luka and the two of them start inviting him to hang out with Adrien and them. They enjoy his company, but they each jokingly try to get the other to fall in love with him.

“Hey Luka, can you show Kagami where the bathroom is? You don’t know where it is?! Well gosh, you better go look for it together! That’s an important thing to know!”

Luka has no idea what’s going on. These three incredibly talented, well renowned, skilled, famous, not to mention HOT people keep asking to hang out with him and he’s like. I’m just a GUY with a GUITAR who can’t figure out his feelings.

Adrien sees them reccommending the Luka help the other with something or suggest he spend time with their best friend, and thinks Luka must be REALLY incredible if they hold so much respect and admiration and faith in his abilities.

Adrien tries to talk to Luka more, both because they both keep getting third wheeled by Marinette and Kagami and because he wants to learn from him and see why he’s so great

Uh oh

Now Adrien has a crush on Luka too! He can barely think straight when the four of them hang out, and can barely focus on being Chat Noir because he feels so bad about being disloyal to all these incredible people and oh goooooosh

One day, Marinette and Kagami are hanging out in Marinette’s room and Kagami says she has a confession to make.

She still harbors feelings for Adrien, but Marinette trying to get her to fall in love with Luka worked as well and she’s so conflicted on what to do.

Marinette bursts out laughing

At first Kagami is really hurt, until Marinette says she wanted to tell Kagami the exact same thing. So they just look at each other like wow. We’re a couple of fools aren’t we.

So they decide to call Luka and Adrien and be honest with both of them about their feelings and what they’ve been doing because otherwise it’ll be to weird and confusing moving forward. Marinette is TERRIFIED. She’s catastrophizing every step of the way, but still manages to go because she’s with Kagami.

They tell Luka and Adrien. The two of them are silent for a moment, before Adrien is all well I feel a lot less bad about being in love with like 4 people now.

Luka, Kagami, and Marinette are all like WHAT

And he’s like yeah I liked Marinette and Kagami and we hung out all the time and I felt bad because the act of wanting to choose between two girls feels so scummy. And then you came Luka and my world was turned upside down because I didn’t even know I was bi.

The three of them are all like :o <33333

until Marinette is like…. wait who’s the fourth person

Adrien gets all blushy and stammering and he’s like promise you guys won;t think I’m weird or creepy or in stupid celebrity crush zone but. It’s Ladybug.

Luka and Kagami are like oh yeah Ladybug is like the hottest person alive that’s fair

Marinette’s face is RED but she can’t say anything.

and Luka is like. Well I obviously had a crush on all three of you and I had no idea what to do because you’re so clearly out of my league but I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth amirite

Marinette and Kagami are over the MOON and still a little overwhelmed.

Marinette is like. So. What should we do. Kagami says clearly the most beneficial option here is for all of them to date each other.

So they’re all blushy and happy and warm in the new relationship that none of them were expecting would turn out this well when Adrien asks

so Kagami and Marinette, are you guys dating each other too? I’m confused.

They stop suddenly look at each other, their childhood best friend, their deepest confidant, their oldest love, for a long time. Both of their faces are now red as Nathanael’s hair.

Marinette starts, “Would you-”

Kagami cuts her off by grabbing both of her hands and kissing her <3

they’re now all in a happy little polycule the end <333

Kagami: You cheered only me, right?

Marinette: well…, Cheered Adrien a little bit.

Kagami: Do you want me to be jealous?

Marinette: No no! You’re number one!
