you don't have to practice witchcraft to work with / worship deities
hey i wasn’t sure if you were open to dms, and feel free to ignore this if you aren’t okay with asks but i was wondering how you set boundaries with food offerings, like i know for chthonic gods it’s pretty set in stone but for ouranic do you let the food mold and go bad, or do you set a limit or something so it doesn’t go bad? and what do you do after it does go bad?

hii digitalbun ! i'm glad you went for asks instead , i should add those boundaries to my intro post , thanks for the idea ! i'm not really cool with dms unless we've interacted before through replies or asks , but i'm always open to asks ^_^ thank you for making sure !
as far as your question ! i can't really afford to allow my food to rot , even if it's a small portion , mainly because of ( 1 ) guilt and ( 2 ) i'm real tight on money all the time .
so , to combat this , this is basically my routine every time i offer food:
- pick the food ( obv ) . sometimes it'll be a portion of my food , mostly it's my entire plate though because i don't eat much to begin with and i want them to at least have something of substance . also i struggle with eating , so if it's a food offering then i'm bound to finish it all . win-win for everyone !
- choose the deity you'd like to offer to . this is a bit diffcult for me sometimes because i often can't choose between my deities , but on wednesdays i dedicate everything i eat to hermes , on sundays it's all for apollo , and so on . obviously though for me it'll always have to be an ouranic deity .
- offer it ! mine usually goes with me either whispering or saying in my head , "i offer this food to [deity name]" . but we're not done offering yet !
- since i have to always eat the food , i always mention to the deity , "i offer you the spiritual portion , because i have to consume the physical portion" . letting the deity know that i'm going to consume it is essential , just so they know i'm not disrespecting them . also saying the same thing every single time tires me so sometimes i play around with the wording but it always means the same . most of the time i'm not that formal and i just go "i offer you this food but i gotta eat it so.............keep that in mind"
- "i will begin eating when you allow me to . thank you" is the final thing i say . i wait for a bit , usually about five minutes , and then i ask "may i eat it now?" . this part will vary person to person , because i'm in the practice of being able to receive yes / no answers through energy , so i can usually always interpret a yes or a no on the spot . however , constantly having to sense energy is exhausting so on the times where i just cannot do it , i usually just wait until i feel like it's okay for me to eat it . you can always use a pendulum or tarot or you can also wait until you feel it's right to start eating ! i only start eating after i get a "yes" . sometimes i'll get a "maybe" , in which case i wait for about another minute and then ask again . if i get a no , i'll wait another few minutes ^_^
the reason i cannot wait for more than five minutes at a time is because normally i'm eating with my family , so i can only stall for so long . my deities know i'm closeted with my beliefs so they don't hold me up for too long . the longest time was maybe the first time i ever offered lemonade to apollo and he took hours to give me a yes .
i hope this helps ! ^_^ if you have any more questions feel free to ask !
