Melinoë: „Mh, guess i have to bring a little light into this topic. But it is not very easy to explain, so let me tell you a little story.
Since we Celestial Dragons are born Kings and Queens of certain islands, we should visit our belonging home at least once in our lifetime. When I was a young girl in the age of 11, my father thought it was time for me too see the Alyghieri ruled island of Infernas. He himself couldn’t come with me, because he had important business left in Mary Geoise, so my mother and I - escorted by a group of Marine ships - travelled to Infernas.
On our way back, we fell into a terrible storm. I can still reconstruct the clouds as dark as the night, the heavy rainfalls, the terrible stormy winds and the rumbling thunder right in front of my eyes. We were ready to face pirates, sea monsters, everything… except a thunderstorm that hit us as hard as that one. What truly happened there is something I can’t recall, because the only thing I remember was how I realized that I was swimming alone in the middle of the ocean. A part of driftwood from our ship was my only hold, before I faded again from heat and dehydration. My mother died that day. They never found her body, which caused my father to fall into a deep sadness that he never really healed.
I would’ve died there too, drowning in the waves or something else - if there weren’t a pirate ship that picked me up.
When I woke up I looked into the eyes of a red haired boy, who smiled at me. I will never forget that moment, when he told me that I am save and that everything is going to be okey… He was in company with another boy, a clown-looking one with a round nose and blue hair that he kept under a hat. Both of them were around the same age as me, maybe older, but still kids. At first I was really scared to be on a ship with pirates, especially because of all the terrible stories I heard from my father about how cruel they were. I thought that they‘d use me as a hostage, but I was wrong. The boy with the red hair and the straw hat stayed by my side when I was still bound to the bed. He told me stories and jokes to make me laugh and when he learned about my origin, he still treated me like I was no noble… he treated me like a friend. And then he told me his name: Shanks.
It was so unusual for me, because I was used to the obedience of the common people, yet his behaviour didn’t bother me at all. I was just so thankful to be alive and to have someone to talk to, someone that had a curiously detailed knowledge of Mary Geoise and it’s people.
When I got better I finally got to meet the captain, who was - out of all - Gol D. Roger himself, the notorious pirate king. But I wasn't afraid... after all he had saved me, he let his doctor care for me so that I could live and he even promised that he‘d let me go. I will never forget what he and his crew did for me and that I was able to return to my home safely. Given that Roger himself was one of the most searched man in this world, he gave that boy Shanks the order to escort me into the hands of the Marine, where our ways parted. I cried when I had to watch him go ... he was the very first who I really saw as my friend.
Even after years, I kept an eye on everything regarding Gol D. Roger and his crew. I was there, when he was executed and I carefully collected all the news I could get about the whereabout of Shanks, who became a powerful pirate captain himself - no he even raised to the rank of a pirate emperor among names like Whitebeard, Kaido and Big Mom. Just as the scared little girl that became the High Judge of Mary Geoise he grew up too. We were always so different, walking on different paths with different goals. But when I got access to all the informations of this existing world in the halls of the Pangaea Castle, I learned that we were very similar after all. Then one day he showed up in Mary Geoise... and I already knew why he was able to walk through the doors that prevented normal humans from entering the Holy Land.
Still... every time I look into his face, I still see that boy... who cared for me, told me stories and made me laugh.
