People hating Bianca cause she's in a relationship with Varric is just another example of how this fandom treats female characters.

Before I played Dai, I always thought that people hated her so much cause she did some awful thing during the game, but they really just hate her cause she got with Varric lol. And its a relationship they both agreed to be in.

Bianca has such an amazing list of achievements and things she has done and people just reduce her to "Varric's toxic gf" and hate her for it.

And she also designed Varric's crossbow and is one of the people that knows the most about red lyrium.

"I hate her cause Varric deserves better and I wanted to romance him" they said as they put their clown makeup on.

It's a toxic relationship for the both of them. She's not forcing Varric to be with her. He's a grown man who's making the decision to continue their unhealthy on and off relationship, so putting all the blame on her for this is absurd. People blaming her for "stringing Varric along" as she wasn't forced into a marriage by her family.

And people getting offended over the "Feed you your eyeballs" need to get over themselves. She cares for Varric and is telling the Inky to look after him. Is it rude? Sure, but not every character has to be likeable or nice to the pc. Not everyone needs to worship the ground the pc walks on.

And while she was responsible for leaking the red lyrium to Corypheus (unwillingly), the biggest reason why the fandom dislikes her "for making Varric unhappy :( Will no one think of the poor male character?" even though she has more than once put herself at risk to help Varric.

It's just another example of a female character with her own goals and motivations who doesn't worship the pc, and cause "she made Varric sad" that makes her evil incarnate to most of the fandom.

This guy spent his childhood in a family of mages, constantly feeling one wrong step away from his family falling down around him. He talks about not getting to stand out in case it brought too much attention, and whether or not that was technically true he must have felt it. He must have constantly felt like his family might be torn apart at the seams; and the anger he feels at that is bound to be misplaced onto them sometimes because there's literally nothing he can really do about it.

And then there's Ostagar. The kings army. That boy is Ferelden through and through he believes in that nation and Ostagar absolutely hurts him and then all of a sudden he's away from everything he knows AND his family is falling apart AND he doesn't know what to do about all that trauma and anger and the fact that his king and his dad are both dead and the fact that he's not home anymore and the fact that everything is so scary and his stupid sibling is putting them in even more danger by GETTING NOTICED which is one of the very top things NOT to do according to his upbringing.

Vivienne will always be one of my favourite characters in this game in part bc of how fast she clocks Solas. Everyone else is like yeh Solas is up his own arse or he’s too serious for his own good or he took all my money when we played Diamondback but Vivienne says right from the jump ‘something about this guy is just NOT adding up he is NOT telling us the full story’ and then is promptly ignored

the dao fade level is crazy from the party’s perspective. imagine getting stuck in the fade with a demon and you just see glimpses of your party leader saving you, but they’re not just themself, they’re strange and powerful, capable of these wondrous magical forms, and then even when you get out of the fade they’re changed. all those stat increases? they’re stronger faster and more cunning than they ever were before, as if they spent far longer in there than you did, as if they brought something of the fade with them when they left

what i don’t understand about merrill’s romance outfit is why it’s romance-specific. fenris and isabela’s romance armour changes are pretty straightforward, they wear hawke’s colours along with a couple minor changes to their usual outfits, it demonstrates their unspoken devotion despite the rocky history and semi-existence of the actual relationship. whereas being in love with hawke is very irrelevant to wearing a shiny new set of dalish armour. what aspect of moving into hightown with the human love interest your clan wouldn’t approve of is signified by this. why would she even have access to shiny new dalish armour either way. why on earth did they go with neither green OR red for the belt

i think the best argument i’ve got in favour of this look is that publicly being the champion’s lover is simply incidentally what lets someone do things like wear blatantly dalish full armour while wandering around a human city’s hightown. i could get into that perhaps. i still don’t know where she’s supposed to have gotten it and the colour scheme still needs to go
