Honestly I absolutely adore their decision to make 13 probably the angriest doctor in new who instead of just wimping out and making her mild and submissive

#sorry for reblogging this again but i seriously love this#esp since i was so worried that in s11 they'd cop out of letting her be as angry as past incarnations#like. there were hints that the happy cheery persona she had in s11 was a facade but i was worried i was reading too much into it#and then s12 came along and showed that yes. it was a persona and yes she's actually horribly angry and traumatized underneath it all! now#watch as we pile on more trauma to make it worse!#and i'm loving it!#good lord she's so ANGRY and i'm living for it!#doctor who (via @iamdelta-s​)

Yes! I find this season so validating on my read of Thirteen. I consider that Thirteen’s series 11, as her way of just enjoying traveling again, going back to being just a traveler. The Doctor was so ready to stop and this life is last minute, no, last second decision. 

Thirteen actively avoided any situation or place that knew her or might even trigger her, because as we saw in The Ghost Monument, and how easy it was for her to go under in despair she hasn’t dealt with any trauma of losing Bill. It’s why she stayed and honored Grace. 

And since the Master arrived and kicked the door to her past open, reminding her that simply just shoving everything behind her isn’t going to work, Thirteen’s latent anger has slowly built up and now she’s faced with one of the enemies, that at this moment surpassed even her hatred for Daleks, the Cybermen. 

There’s a volcano simmering underneath that calm and quiet brook and now it’s all bubbling to the surface. 

This was really cute.
