New obscure medieval instrument acquired! This is a citole I got hand made from a luthier on etsy and ohhhhh its so beautiful 😍

I'm not used to playing with a plectrum, and the little hole on the neck is so odd. The strings are a LOT further apart than what im used to with the lute.. but I love it, it's so weird lol. Vid is just me farting around with it fresh out of the box.

I flubbed one of the final notes of the second one u_u You know when you're playing through a song and everything is going relatively well that you kind of panic when you near the end thinking "don't fuck up don't fuck up this is the best take you've done so far holy shit ohmygod DON'T FUCK UP THIS IS THE EASY PART" and then you inevitably fuck up because you were focusing so hard? lol yeah.

FINALLY LEARNING A NEW SONG. Started learning this one last night and if you notice my hand shaking on certain parts it's 'cause i was practicing for like. way too long and my arms/hands were cold and sore lol

I feel bad because I've been so fucking busy lately which leads to me having zero energy to do anything productive when I end up with a bit of freetime... and I haven't tried anything new with my lute in SO LONG.

Every time I have the time and energy to get it out of the case and tune it to have a go, I just play through all the songs I already know and then put it back...

The feeling of stagnation ain't a good one... but I'm tired T_T

So I sketched out some of "Burn Butcher Burn" for the lute today! Maybe I'll polish it up and do an actual recording of it? I'm not as talented as Mr. Batey though and I have a hard time playing and singing at the same time, so we'll see xD

Sometimes you gotta play yourself back at 2x speed just to see how it'll sound when you can eventually play it at the right tempo lol

I GOT A NEW BOOK OF LUTE MUSIC! Intended for beginner to intermediate 😊 I'm practicing the first half of this:

I can finally practice again ToT it's been so long and I have a lot of making up to do. I wasn't able to play after I moved because I needed to do something about the humidity.. the pegs were so TIGHT in there I couldn't tune.

This is the same piece I was trying to learn before, "Basso del Ninfe" (up until the end where I got frustrated and started playing something else lol). I have a hard time with this one because there's a lot more movement down and up the neck compared to the other songs I've learned. Gotta get my hands and fingers more acquainted with all the real estate 🙌
