Tili: Well if it any consolation to you, you look like one too

Summary: Fili, Kili, and Tili have been by eachothers sides through all their childhood schemes and now they stand together on the battlefield
A/N: just a quick little story for my new OC. It started off very fluffy but then I got whiplash from how fast it turned to angst. But I hope y’all enjoy! <3
Warnings: angst, war, sadness
Tili’s POV:
-Flashback to when kids-
“Oh you little troublemakers! Don’t let me catch you three stealing from me again!” The baker’s wife yelled, as my brothers and I ran down the path and towards home. Our boots pounding the damp dirt and our breaths short. “That was too close Fili.” I breath out as we slow down next to a tree, far enough away from the bakers shop to not get caught. “Nah we were fine. That old baker and his wife are too old to catch us and beside it was worth it to get this.” Fili grinned as he held up the three pastries wrapped up in parchment. Chocolate croissants, our favorite. “Yeah yeah just give us the food” Kili whined as he was still trying to catch his breath and reached out for the treats. “Not until we get home Kil! You’ll scarf it down and barely enjoy it if we eat it now.” Fili fought as he put his arm out to stop Kili and raised to food higher up. “I’ll scarf it down when we get home just as much as I would right now!” Kili fought back. I groan at the boys antics and jumped up and snatched the croissants from Fili’s hands. “Why don’t we compromise. We’ll split each of the pastries in half and eat some of it now and then the rest we we get back home. Deal?” Fili and Kili looked at eachother and shrugged. “Deal!” They say together. We all sit down on the dirt and I bring the croissants out of their wrapping and spit each in half. “One for you, one for you, and one for me.” I smile and happily munch on the treat with my brothers. “When did you get to be so smart, Tils?” Kili asked with a mouth full of food. I scoff and say,
“Well it’s a good thing one of us got a brain.”
-end flashback-
I tighten the strap on my chest plate and lock it in place, then turn my attention to my boots and tighten them up. Sighing I tuck a strand of my red hair that managed to fall out of its braids, and I start to work on the next boot.
Once finished I stand up and turn to my oldest brother who is ready there with a battle helmet in his hands.
I step toward him and look up to his soft, blue eyes. Sadness swimming around but you can tell he’s trying his hardest to hide it.
He looks down at me and gives a small smile then lift up the helmet to my head and slowly fits it on.
Once it’s on, his shaky palms linger at the side of my head for a moment as he stares in my eyes. “Namadith” he whispers gently with a voice on the brink of brokenness. I bring my hands up and rest them on his and lean my head forward so our foreheads touch. “Do not weep yet, for those you have not lost,” I smile and close my eyes.
“We must be brave” I say as I lean back and look back into his eyes. He nods and continues to help me with my helmet, tightening the straps.
After he’s finished, Kili walks in carrying some chainmail. He’s looking to the ground as he enters and only when he slowly looks up we see the worry on his face.
I reach my hand out for him to take, and he slowly walks over to take it. I reach my other hand out for Fili, who also takes it.
“This is a battle we must fight for our home. For our family.” I speak with hope, but in truth I’m scared. I’m scared of death, I’m scared of the war tomorrow that Thorin has proclaimed. But mostly I’m scared of loosing my brothers, I promised mother I’d bring them back to her and I plan to do just that. She will get all of her children back when this is done.
“We will stay together, don’t leave eachothers side. We will see the morning after morrow, do not worry” I try to encourage. Both of them slowly look up at me and we all three look between each other. Taking in what we each look like. The color of our eyes, the shape of our noses, the turn of our lips, anything. Anything to keep in our memory, incase this is the last time we see eachothers faces with life in them.
Then Kili smiles softly, “when did you get to be so wise namad?” Which makes Fili and I smile as well and I soft say,
“Well it’s a good thing one of us got a brain.”
Tili: FILIII!!!!
Fili: *whispering* shhh keep it down mom’s asleep
Tili: *whispers* oh sorry
