Summary: Yet another alternate story for Ariadne, this time in @khalwrites​‘ medieval fantasy ‘verse. When Ariadne’s dream of working with the famously kind and noble King Edwyn comes true, it is not long before her expectations are shattered. Alone in the world and chasing her sole remaining goal - vengeance - she ends up throwing herself on the mercy of the monsters that she once helped persecute and torture.

Unlikely Salvation

Dystopian urban fantasy dealing with themes of oppression, discrimination, redemption, and interpersonal relationships built on foundations of trauma.

Full credit to co-author @whump-sprite​ who is responsible for the most of the characters and the setting.

Synopsis They say the War On Magic ended years ago, but the people still fighting it in the shadows know better. When Resistance healer Alex Morgen finds government torturer Ariadne Milonas broken beyond belief on the basement floor, he knows he’s going to help her. Even though she has been his captor and interrogator for the past three months. When he finds out that his own sister was the one who did it, he’s not sure he’ll ever be able to go back.

Writing Please forgive the many holes in the timeline, writing in order does not come naturally to me.

I find the drow are always a pleasure to work with. They have enough fire in them to make breaking them a satisfying challenge. They are quick learners and they know what to expect, which is always a thrill. With most subjects what you see first is fear of the unknown. That’s all well and good, but the fear of the known-too-well adds some pleasant variety. And of course you don’t lose the element of uncertainty. There are more than enough ways to hurt a person to keep anyone guessing. It is a thing of beauty to watch that haughty pride at war with the intelligence and experience that tells them that the fastest route to relief is to submit.                                                                         – Marcus Arcuarius
