There are plenty of other Hollywood actresses/actors that don’t pull off gross shit like this, support them instead…. At the end of the day, we need to put the victims first and stop letting this shit slide.

this is a reference to how Allen’s fellow director Roman Polanski fled the States for the relative safety of Europe after his rape conviction but before he could be sentenced properly. Woody Allen, by contrast, has been accused of sexual assault by his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow (who was SEVEN at the time), but was never officially charged with anything.

the actors who continue to work with woody allen despite what he’s done are the very reason he is still successful in hollywood. the ‘separating the art from the artist’ is bullshit, and all of them know it. nobody actually believes ‘its a personal family matter’ or ‘it’s only alleged, it hasn’t been proven.’ everyone knows what he is. they deny it for the sake of personal and career-oriented ambitions. they deny it for the sake of getting to say “i was in a woody allen movie.”

“why hasn’t woody allen died yet” he could very easily die if everyone can get over themselves and stop working with him. im looking at kristen stewart, jesse eisenberg, alec baldwin, blake lively, cate blanchett, steve carrell, owen wilson, rachel mcadams, marion cotillard… the list goes on.

the reason he is still getting attention is because he is still getting A list celebrities to be in his movies. and some of them are really fantastic, well known actors, like blanchett and cotillard…. don’t think for a second people are going to hesitate overlooking his “alleged” crimes to see their performances. and so it goes on- actors overlook and viewers overlook and here we are, years later, still debating whether or not a literal child sex offender’s movies are problematic.

he is a child sex offender. stop making excuses for yourselves. if well known actors stop working with him, he will die. his movies might still get made, because he has the money, but they wont nearly be talked about as much if he doesnt have the people. and i doubt he would continue his work if he wasn’t getting any recognition for it. these people are hiding behind the idea that “nothing could possibly bring him down because of his legacy and talent, so me working/not working with him won’t change that.” This selfishness & convenient ignorance is why he is still around. he is still alive because you’re still making movies with him. he needs you. you have the power to kill his career, and you wont. it’s disgusting and i wont turn a blind eye to it or pretend that his ‘talent’ is the only reason he is still in the business. i hold all of these people plus plenty others accountable as to why he hasn’t suffered any consequences career wise for what he is and has done.

it’s hilarious how it’s trendy it is to hate Woody Allen even though he has more great movies than 95% of directors

Oh wow yes, let’s talk about how Plath’s struggle with motherhood and desire for bodily autonomy aren’t relatable to a college-age teenage girl. Let’s talk about how teenage girls are twice as likely to develop depression as their male counterparts. Let’s talk about how countless other men have had their deaths romanticized beyond belief without any question, but the second women grasp onto someone they’re shot down as silly and overly invested.

Keep coming for Cosby, please. but also remember that Woody Allen is still held in very high esteem by the Academy and the public in general after being outed as a pedophile. “Annie Hall” and his other films are still aired by various networks, prominent actors from Emma Stone to Joanquin Phoenix still star in his productions, and he has a television show slated for 2016. He is still respected, still revered, and overall his reputation is intact, and he is a pedophile.

Jared Leto has a history of raping fans, and he recently won an Oscar, is starring in a highly anticipated upcoming film, and is respected as a talented, quickly rising actor.

Roman Polanski was convicted of raping a 13 year old child and fled the country to avoid arrest. When he was finally detained in Zurich in 2009 because of the US arrest warrant years earlier, over 100 people from the film industry signed a petition for his release and got him off (the signatures included those of Martin Scorsese, David Lynch, Tilda Swinton, and fellow child-rapist Woody Allen). A few years after his release, he even won an Oscar to a standing ovation and to this day he still acts, produces, and is highly regarded by the film industry.

Bill Murray, despite physically abusing his ex wife, is loved by a huge portion of the American public and has had a cameo in more films than I can count. He’s so highly revered in the industry that he doesn’t even have agent, he’s still starring in blockbusters, and even recently appeared a Comic-Con.

My point with all of this is not to say “Bill is bad but he’s getting too much grief”. You will never catch me co-signing that line of thought. Bill Cosby is a vile human being. He’s a serial rapist and a monster. And the four other men I have mentioned above are monsters in their own right as well. Cosby deserves what he’s getting. But as we watch this whole ordeal unfold, let’s not forget that the film and television industry and our society as a whole, is never as willing to punish monsters, or even acknowledge their wrongdoing, when they’re white.

so many male celebrities are absolute shit but get praised anyway, and that’s horrifying. Sean Penn kidnapped, raped, and beat Madonna, but he’s praised far and wide.

and like I get that some people don’t know these things, sometimes they don’t realize the fact that one of their faves has done heinous shit, and when they do find out, they’re horrified… but like… it’s so horrifying that some of these things are so well known and forgive. it’s horrifying that these things happened and didn’t generate enough outrage to end these men’s careers, for news to spread far and wide

i’m throwing in michael fassbender’s name because people keep ignoring the fact that he’s a woman-beating drunkass, not to mention he intimidated keira knightley and made her fear him during their time filming together. yet everybody still wants to hop on his dick and turn it around on her, saying she threatened him without knowing the full context as to why she threatened him (and holy shit was it hard to find an article that didn’t paint her like she instigated it). don’t forget it.

These are stills from the trailer for the new Woody Allen movie, “Magic in the Moonlight”, Colin Firth plays a magician who seeks to debunk a con artist/mind-reader played by Emma Stone. Hijinks and romance ensue. 

But before all of that, we see Colin Firth’s character in ridiculous yellowface in his magician persona, “Wei Ling Soo”, because what’s a lighthearted romantic comedy without some heavy racism?

I’m so tired of this self-aware brand of racism where respected actors wear another race, like RDJ in “Tropic Thunder”. Because it’s so over-the-top, there’s this implied wink wink, nudge nudge that compels the viewer to accept ridiculous and unnecessary racist bullshit as something that is understood to be “naughty” and therefore makes the film more interesting, but isn’t truly racist because it is self aware.
