I really, really wish feminists included this phenomenon more in their discussions about how the media affects girls’ body image. :/ I second this. Many times, I feel like a lot of people, including feminists, tend to be "colorblind" (a whole other breed of racism) which is a problem in and of itself. They (colorblind feminists) think including racism would distract away from the problem of sexism but, really, it's also a significant part of the problem (see this Miss Representation post). Choosing not to see it where it exists is just as ignorant as having a cis white male say that he doesn't see color. By doing so, you've basically erased/ignored entire cultures behind the "color" and you've chosen not to acknowledge/address the issue behind the racism + sexism we (women of color) face.
