TIME Magazine is asking who should be the Person of the Year, and among its forty options is: Undocumented Immigrants.
That’s right, we (the undocumented population) have the chance to be named “Person of the Year” as a collective! What does it mean? It means that Once again, the struggles of undocumented immigrants will be highlighted on a reputable publication - except that this time, it won’t be just the cover but a prestigious mention that has been awarded to John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and other notable historical figures.
What better way to be “noticed”, right?
So what are you waiting for? CLICK HERE and vote!
SIGNAL BOOST!!!
Right now it’s 40% “definitely” and 60% “no way” so let’s tumblr-bomb this and make Undocumented Immigrants TIME’s Person of the Year 2012!!!
do ittt
It's at 43% "No way" now, people! Let's keep this momentum going! Also, I can't believe it's still pretty high. This country upsets me, especially with all its talk about diversity, "melting pots", and that bullshit.
I love this but Props 34 and 37. I am not happy.
PRESIDENT OBAMA WON BY 303 ELECTORAL VOTES
303 = 3oh!3
NICE LEGS DAISY DUKES MAKES A MAN GO FOUR MORE YEARS BABy
Susan B Anthony pummeled and arrested for attempting to vote in 1872. She was fined $100 for registering to vote.
Thank you ladies.
She never paid a cent of that fine.
A true hero
A shitload of uneducated voters at my polling place tonight. People all around me took the longest time reading over the blurbs (I'm assuming) 'cause they were there for a long-ass time. You stupid shits need to do your fucking research, honestly. People don't understand the gravity of the situation and how much progress would have been made. I'm so disappointed in you, California.
REMEMBER: IF YOU LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA, YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO HAVE A STATE-ISSUED ID TO VOTE.
They can ask if you have one, but it is NOT needed.
PA Supreme Court overturned the bullshit law GOP designed to keep poor, elderly, and people otherwise incapable of obtaining IDs under the guise of “preventing voter fraud”.
I just wanted to signal boost because THEY ARE STILL AIRING THE BULLSHIT ADS.
DO NOT BELIEVE THEM. YOU DO NOT NEED AN ID.
NOW GO VOTE.
California:NO ON PROP 35!!! Here is why!
PLEASE REPOST!
Naomi updates: the law is so poorly written. Sharmin Brock said I would not be required to register as a sex offender based on my previous convictions, however there are other problems in the law that would target sex workers who support eachother or run businesses AND marginalized homeless youth who work the streets together and have no “manager” (like I did when I was 14). Those youth could be charged with trafficking and lifetime sex offender registration and monitoring. People YOU MUST read this entire bill. Don’t just count on the summary to do your thinking for you. We are alarmed at Prop 35, and because it’s so badly written and so misdirected it is unclear who will be effected and how! Read the law itself, critiques by California attorneys, and sex worker and human rights advocates to understand how broad the definitions will be. Read about the numerous serious problems with this legislation…and try to figure out if you or your friends could be targeted within the parameters of Prop 35. http://www.againstthecaseact.com/. I was very concerned when Naomi Akers emailed me with this message. Of course I realized that the CASE Act would be effecting my community, but I am appalled and hadn’t considered that the long time Director of the St. James Infirmary would be a target. Meanwhile, the CASE Act proponents are actually trying to tell us that we just have to trust the police. I am not kidding—that’s their talking point. More info at http://www.againstthecaseact.com/.
North Dakota Pets Rally to Fight Animal Cruelty
There are only two states in the U.S. that don’t recognize animal cruelty as a serious crime: North and South Dakota. A measure on the ballot this November seeks to change that in North Dakota.
Pets of all stripes have come out in support of Measure 5, which would make extreme animal cruelty to dogs, cats and horses a felony in the state.
If your pet supports this measure, you can upload his pic here.
