amid the celebrations about the queen probably dying soon, we need to remember how this will negatively affect the country. there will be millions spent on a funeral and charles’s coronation while we are in the middle of a severe economic crisis and working class families are having to choose between heating and food. it will take attention away from all the important politics and parliament may be suspended. all news and television will be about her death and her reign — it’s been said that comedy programmes will be cancelled for potentially up to a fortnight out of ‘respect’.

One of the main reasons why the west is so “rich” is because they depend on the debt repayments from 3rd world countries, for example France. The worst thing about that is, most of these 3rd world countries are paying a debt caused by the abolishment of slavery. That’s right … They have to still pay the countries that enslaved them a fee for their loss. Haiti is a prime example of this and the only reason why they stopped paying their debt to France was because of the Hurricane. It has not been confirmed that they have stopped entirely though. Fuck this world.

Hello, my name is Roo.  My photos been going around the internet, mostly people have been so lovely and nice! Though some people have been writing some things. I just wanted to explain: I just think it’s a funny T-shirt, considering all that’s going on with the UK government.  I think the T shirt is for people who do running and sports and things. I’m a girl and I’m from the UK. I can walk a little bit. With crutches and leg braces…it’s more of a wobble! I don’t receive money from the government as I live with my mum and I am a full time student (well not at the moment, it’s the summer holidays!)  About five years ago I had an accident and since then I have slowly loosing my ability to walk. I have a degenerative neuromuscular disorder and damage to my basal ganglia.  I’m not stupid and my parents didn’t put me up to this. I just saw the shirt and thought it was funny. I hoped to make a few friends laugh and smile, I don’t know how so many people have seen my picture. I didn’t mean to upset or make anyone angry. Ok. Regardless of the fact that I don’t think 91,000 notes is tumblr “ignoring it,” there are a few issues with this. First of all, that “40%” statistic is from a men’s rights group in the UK called parity, which is outspokenly anti-feminist. Rather than acknowledge that when domestic abuse of men does happen, it’s more likely to be at the hands of another man, they weasel-words themselves out of citing any actual statistics but a self-report survey done as a companion to the BCR, the british crime survey, all the actual data of which STILL reports women as the primary sufferers of domestic abuse (ie 55-60+ percent.) Now, we can sit here and mince words all day, and I can certainly agree that violence against men is prevalent and important, but it is absolutely unethical and ignorant to pretend that men aren’t also the primary perpetrators. Rather than creatively painting the primary victims of domestic abuse as the perpetrators, it may be advantageous to look at some neutral statistics, bearing in mind that statistics for BOTH are probably higher, since abuse reporting for EVERYONE is low. There, at the National Domestic Violence Hotline website, is this statistic: “From 1994 to 2010, about 4 in 5 victims of intimate partner violence were female.” and they cite their sources. The other reason this bugs me is that when you try to look this up, most of the sources are from Parity, meaning no, nobody’s “ignoring it-” they took those flawed, misrepresented statistics and ran with them, implying worldwide issues from a single survey in the UK/Wales. Look. It’s important to protect EVERYONE from domestic abuse. But if you’re attempting to do that by misrepresenting the primary victims, I don’t want any part of it.
