I have a love-hate relationship with Disney. They like to teach values and morals that are pretty much taught over and over again in every project they invest in. However, a lot of these works project false consciousness and promote individualism/meritocracy. The "you can do it" and "be yourself" mentalities are very dangerous, especially when coupled together, because not everyone will love you (as sad as that may be). Your social skills is what can make or break you in whatever it is you want to pursue. Being yourself is not a road to success and not everyone will get to see the glamour and luxuriousness that Disney loves to tout. You may or may not get to experience it. This is not to say that you should completely sell yourself away. You have to be realistic. This is how it is in a corporate culture and, as long as it's like this, basic social skills matter and you have to conform if you want to survive. Think of it like being Mulan while she was in the army; this is temporary until corporate culture disappears (whenever that is).

Here are some Disney myths I'd like to dispel just looking at these gifs (as gorgeous as they are).

- ONE: Sometimes being optimistic is what puts you in last place. Optimism is good to an extent but stay pragmatic. - TWO: You can only do so much to make your dreams a reality with the restrictions of society. Some people are on the lowest part of ladder in terms of socioeconomics and civil liberties. Keep that in mind. - THREE: I don't know how much the power of a kiss can save you in economics and social justices but okay. - FOUR: Compromise is better but yes, you do have to make sacrifices as well as the other person(s). Same with working; you have to make sacrifices if you want to succeed. - FIVE: Cliche but truth. - SIX: Yes, but being in a coporate culture, you will eventually be treated as a prize/trophy as you climb the ladder. Learn to recognize it. - SEVEN: Yes. Always yes. - EIGHT: Initially, I wanted to say "hells yeah" but if you're gonna work, you have to listen to others. Corporate culture, yo. If you're talking about social justice, then yeah, don't let anyone tell you what to do. - NINE: Only if you're really that naive will you believe this; millions and millions of people work hard only to stay in the same routine until their death. Are they lazy because of it? No. Are they not working hard enough? Not necessarily. Some of them work harder than any of us can imagine but they never make it. Again, think of the societal and political restrictions that bind us. There's only so much we can do; that is why activism matters. - TEN: Applies to people who want an adventure but it really depends on the individual. Sitting around and watching the world go by isn't gonna solve problems or help you get anywhere. If that's your goal, you've succeeded.

And that's all! It became longer than I wanted but yeah, I wanted to put realistic thoughts out there :D Also, is it just me or did the second gif freeze on Rapunzel for anyone else?
