I realized that I needed to invest in equipment beyond what I already have in order to do this right. I didn’t want to do a subpar job with bad audio and bad video. It’s a big and ambitious project of mine and I’m really excited to share it with you, but making it right now, after not posting for so long is definitely rough on me. Hay guys! So I finally went ahead and started a Patreon for my book projects! My monthly Patreon goal is set at $200 a month. This would cover the monthly cost of hiring a book publicist. Basically I’ve done all that I can to the best of my abilities with both my blog and my other social media outlets. 

I need the help from a publicist so my works can receive more exposure. Having more exposure can lead to better things for my works and for myself, like podcast interviews and book blog reviews. My lowest donation tier starts at $1 and the highest is $10. Even if you can’t donate to my Patreon just passing this post along would be a great help to me. Thank you!

I recently revamped my patreon page a bit! I’m also dropping my first webcomic very soon and patrons can get to see the pages way before anyone else.

small patreon rant

earlier i posted about this in more detail on my patreon, but i just wanted to make a small PSA post re: patreon and a topic i’ve talked about before…

if you pledge, your card is not charged until the 1st of the next month, so if you drop before the month ends or if your payment is declined on the 1st, whoever you are supporting does not get the money you pledged to them. you are not cheating some bigger system or company… you’re literally stealing from artists and independent creators. 

what’s more, we can see when people do this. we see their name, email, how long they’ve pledged for, their current pledge amount and more.  it’s really easy to see when people have come, pledged, not payed anything, and backed out before they had to pay anything. some people might do this on accident but it’s hard to maintain faith in that when i know for a fact multiple people will do this on purpose so they can go and download a bunch of my content and leave and never pay a cent.

usually i just grin and bear it and keep doing my thing, but this month i lost about $120 in declined pledges (i went from $750 one day to $630 the next!) and that’s hard to ignore. it’s incredibly disheartening and it honestly makes me feel pretty used. patreon is working on changing this and implementing a better system but until then, it’s a vulnerable place to be in. my patreon, my store, my comic, the conventions i attend – the is my full time job now. i can’t afford to close my patreon but i’m so tired of feeling stepped on.

anyway, this has been a rant. i should probably delete this later… but whatever.
