this is terrible and a shitty result of capitalism, disrespect for the art field, etc. i’m gonna sound like a broken record but if your art is on sites like deviantart, they own the rights to your piece, you give them permission to alter it, and dA can sell it to third-party (like Hot Topic)—they even own your name (source). please DO NOT post your art on sites like deviantart. they’ve had a long history of art theft and unethical rules.

if you can afford to buy a $30 shirt with a political slogan (”nasty woman” and “not my president” and many other catchphrases relevant to the current political climate) you can afford to check who’s selling them. just who are you giving your hard earned cash to. there are far too many opportunistic white people, opportunistic straight men and opportunistic corporations trying to capitalize off our need to protest. don’t help them.

ok art friends i made a like joke about there being a suspiciously cheap cintiq up on amazon- turns out it’s a scam that a lot of new sellers are doing. you place an order and they send a fake “your order could not be shipped” email that contains viruses if you click on it.

so these sellers will turn up as “new sellers” on amazon and are targeting people buying expensive electronics (i’ve seen a ton while looking for cintiqs and stuff). some listings will show up horrendously cheap, and others just suspiciously cheap (for example: a cintiq 13hd for 400 dollars where they’re usually 800). most of the time they’ll have in the product description “CONTACT AT (EMAIL) BEFORE BUYING” forcing you to contact with them off site. don’t do it!!!

well, (I’m probably late, but) I just found out about Zennioptical.com. there are frames on their site for as low as $6.95.

I don’t know how pricing goes regarding particular prescription needs, but, for someone who has had to pay $300+ for some frames (we hadn’t even factored the lens at that point), I think this site is a God-send.

so, yeah. just wanna pass that on.

ps. the frames are ca-yoot. I favorited like 30 already.

also, eyebuydirect.com is another cheap site where you can get eyeglasses/sunglasses, it ranges from $8-$86CAD ..what’s cool about them is, if you are not satisfied with your order, you can email them and they’ll send you free replacements of your choice. you have to let them know within 12 months though, but thats plenty of time. let’s say you buy 2 pairs of glasses, both of them cost $60, if you don’t like how they look, break easily, etc… you can choose as many pairs of glasses as you want as long as it’s not over $60, and they’ll send it to you for free. i tried it, it’s so dope.

I don’t wear glasses myself but I have bought prescription glasses for actors who can’t wear contacts from 39dollarglasses.com, and they have been well made, and the actors had no issue with the prescription. They have nice frames, too, and pictures of them on faces as well as dimensions.

coastal.com is also good !

bonlook.com is a little more expensive, but they have good sales almost every weekend and the glasses are really high quality and are shipped really fast. it’ll cost you $70-$99 but it’s well worth it. this is where i got my mint green cat eye glasses !

polette.com has really really REALLY awesome frames for $10-$40 a pair. they’re amazing looking, but they aren’t amazing quality, so be warned. the prescriptions are good, but the frames are a little chintzy. also, shipping takes awhile. that sounds like i’m being discouraging, BUT if you want a cool pair of uh, ‘statement’ glasses, these are really cool.

for anyone who’s insurance doesn’t cover frames well.

Public service announcement: Please don’t support Urban Outfitters, not only do they constantly cause controversy with racism,and glorifying mental illness, but they’re ridiculously overpriced. I know you like their stuff but there are ((more affordable)) alternatives.  I get all my stuff at ameliastardust and it’s all great quality and not only is she not problematic but she’s a fellow tumblr user, so please just save your money and support actual good small stores like this.
