When you know it’s time to fire the editor
I wonder if they knew each other
What happened…
when is media going to stop portraying indians as ~desirable foreign princes~ and start showing them as what they really are which are dirty ppl who shit in the streets & grope girls on public transit ???
sry but i shower every day, ive never shat in a street or groped anyone, and i am a beautiful desirable princess~
the only dirty thing here is ya nasty attitude
also i just realized that it was literally a young black girl who came to zayns aid and took azaleas abuse and zayn nor the desi community came to support or stand in solidarity with her but rather hopped on #curryscentedbitch
oh wow true :(
Bajirao Mastani (2015 dir. Sanjay Leela Bhansali)
In India, it is usually customary for the future husband’s family to see the girl, usually her behavior and her cooking abilities. In this video the father of the bride wants to see if the man has the same abilities that his daughter possesses. Why should the women be expected to cook and take care of the house? He wanted his daughter to get to know the man she was going to marry. The daughter didn’t want to adhere to what was expected of her. People need to change their way of thinking, it’s not about focusing on what a girl can give to a marriage but also what a man can give, put effort in a marriage. Full video here (x)
Holi, India
Also known as the festival of colors and love, this vivid spring festival brings all people together. The social barriers break completely, friend or stranger, rich or poor, men or women, children or elders, Hindu or not, all people come together to celebrate the end of the winter season. And most important to celebrate that everyone is the same!
Kali tikka for a kali girl. Side-eyeing those appropriators. No matter what ethnicity you are, and no matter what you’ve been told by racists, the media or even your own family, your dark skin is beautiful. #unfairandlovely #reclaimthebindi
POC solidarity is a myth.
yeah POC solidarity is a myth…I stan for Jada any time over these cackling idiots.
So happy their ratings took a hit.
yeah @ Chris watchu doing?
The fact that Priyanka Chopra is the one laughing in one of those gifs is just disgusting to me.
I should defend Desi women, but honestly? Chopra is one of the leading faces of skin bleaching. She is extremely anti-black. She’s well known for appropriating black culture while at the same time insisting that they’re “lower” than her.
She has the potential to be the face of change in society. She’s one of the most powerful women in Bollywood and yet all she does is perpetuate the old tradition.
I stand with Jada Pinkett Smith. Chopra’s actions were out of line and shameful. As a Desi, I am disappointed that she serves as the representative for such a huge chunk of Desi culture.
So let’s stand as our own representatives. Media does not exist in a vacuum. We are what we consume. But if we consume critically, then we consume intelligently. Be critical. Be willing to get loud and call people out. Chopra’s wealth and visibility is because we consume her films and shows and music. There are other actors we can support—actual humanitarians, actual good people. They deserve our support over Chopra.
Make a stand. If our idols fail us, we must choose better idols.
Wow… that was just… wow. Good on you @das-umilaut I’ll just be over here feeling sick to my stomach over all of it.
The new season of HTGAWM looks really good.
I saw this somewhere and I thought Tumblr would appreciate it
