John Boyega’s complaints about LOTR and GoT remind me of this classic stand up comedy quote
“tarantino is gonna do star trek!! d&d are gonna make new star wars movies!!!”
literally every star trek and star wars fan on this planet:
*sees the men who created game of thrones are getting their own star wars series*
In winter, we must protect ourselves. Look after one another.

can you imagine the kind of conversation that had to happen to get that kind of turnaround? bran sees everything so it makes sense he’d tell arya and sansa that petyr tried to pit them against one another. sansa was like, “let’s make this as dramatic as we possibly can. i’m gonna use his words against him and i want to see him weep.” arya goes, “as long as i get to stab him with his own knife, i’ll be happy.” they come up with this intricate plan to shock everybody in the room and execute it perfectly.
Tell them winter has come.
so the biggest jon snow theory ever was confirmed but they did it in the nastiest way possible. like what’s with white people and constantly writing incest can they fucking not
“but they can’t _____ on GoT because it wouldn’t be historically accurate”
point to King’s Landing, i mcfucking dare you
I don’t see how fantasy is a license to be unrealistic outside of the obviously made up stuff. A grounding in reality adds to the dragons and such; maybe it helps suspend disbelief. As with any adaptation sometimes changing details makes for a better product in the new format, but is that what you’re asking for?
i didn’t say realism was bad, i said that claiming “historical accuracy” as a valid justification in a totally ficticious world is absurd, and when it’s used to argue that the entire cast should be white it’s laughably transparent.
Considering the writers are making a “what if the confederates won????” show, I shoulnt be surprised.
