I just got off a ten-hour work shift. During work, my phone kept ringing incessantly. The number is an 816 area code (Missouri), but doesn’t appear in any database that I looked.

The voice in the other line was distinctly male. They used my first name–mangled it horribly, of course–and threatened to hurt my family. My last name they mocked, since it’s Castro, and they (correctly) assumed I’m a communist.

Going to the cops with this is useless. IDK if I want to take this up with my lawyers. Sadly, because I was so shaken up, I deleted the voicemail. IDK if T-Mobile keeps records of voicemails and, quite frankly, I don’t want to look.

So, yeah. Love you too, MOGAI Tumblr. Good job posting me in Stormfront and getting these crazies to dig up my name and phone number.

The worst part of Pride each year is riding the subway late at night and seeing the gay guys, mostly the ones riding by themselves, slowly take off their rainbow stickers and beads and what-not in preparation for their walk alone in their neighborhood, doing their best to prevent the off-chance of being jumped. I saw one guy with a flag in his bag turn it upside down so it wouldn’t poke out.

1. That’s the worst definition of “straight" I’ve ever seen.

2. How even do aroace people benefit from homophobia?

aroaces (who don’t pursue any or only het relationships) are straight in terms of their position of power. society views them as straight as they don’t pursue same gender relationships so aroaces receive the same benefits as straight people–>they benefit from homophobia and oppress sga people

So you also think bisexuals who date the “opposite” gender benefit from homophobia and oppress themselves? And closeted gay people? Everybody who passes as straight?

Not having your identity recognized is not a privilege. It’s oppression in itself.

closeted bi and gay people still internalize homophobia because they know that a misconception is the only thing keeping it from being DIRECTLY leveled at them. When you’re closeted you do not benefit from homophobia because you are still internalizing harmful ideas about who you are. Asexuals who exclusively date people of the socially approved gender for them to be with because that’s who they’re into or are not interested in being with anyone at all do not internalize those same harmful ideas because those ideas are not about them or people like them, they are about people who love people of the same gender as them, that’s what homophobia - and by extension a huge degree of biphobia - is about.

It’s really telling how whenever someone says that straight asexuals are straight and benefit from straightness and homophobia people like the OP leap to “well by that logic bi people are straight!” like it just shows that they do not understand our lived realities as bi people at all and literally just want to use us as a gotcha against our lesbian and gay siblings, divide and conquer.

Seriously I’ve talked a whole bunch about this for weeks and about how it’s a particularly visible example of the broader trend of cishet voyeurism, including stuff like hets saying “omg the homophobes are demonstrating u should go make out in front of them” and and cis people idealising the whole pissing-off-cishet-men aspect of transfems and acting as though our presentation doesn’t put us at immediate risk of violence
