this is not a duet

One reason I like baby birds is that they come out of the gate already looking like they’ve seen the worst the world has to offer.  It’s like they get the horror of existence out of the way early and -then- spend all their time flying around looking pretty and not giving a fuck, which is kind of the opposite of the way we do it.

This guy is so young but he looks like a grizzled old drunk.  He looks like the first thing he ever had to do in the world was fight his way out of an egg before he knew how any of his muscles worked.  I love it.

Huh, I like that idea..
