azealia ‘direct action’ banks
tumblr is so funny. ur meme is problematic. ur media is problematic. ur theorist is problematic. i only consume the most idelogically pure anything. in fact, i stay inside my room at all times, surrounded by pure ideology, and any time something is revealed to have the slightest whiff of problematics, i devour it whole, allowing my ideologically pure stomach acid 2 destroy its essence
lmao i mean the tumblr fandom you refer to has always been a strong proponent of “you can enjoy a problematic thing if you’re aware of the problematic bs they pull.” it’s if you stan for it uncritically that the tumblr fandom has a problem with. for even worse offenses that can’t even be considered problematic anymore, there has to be a point where you need to go “wait, should i be supporting jeffree star even though he’s an antiblack pos?” kat blaque did a great piece on problematic faves.
Interviewer: “Azealia Banks. You know Azealia Banks.”
Jhonni: “They found that new animal in Africa, and they said it got that new flu. That, uh, that zeek flu. The little flu that infects the babies? Is that an animal or something?”
Interviewer: “No, that’s something else.”
Jhonni: “This is a human?”
Interviewer: “Yeah. Azealia Banks.”
Jhonni: “Like, it breathes?”
Interviewer: [laughs] “Come on, Jhonni. You know who I’m talking about.”
Jhonni: “Never heard of her.”
Interviewer: “No?”
also i just realized that it was literally a young black girl who came to zayns aid and took azaleas abuse and zayn nor the desi community came to support or stand in solidarity with her but rather hopped on #curryscentedbitch
oh wow true :(
Any thoughts on Azealia Banks? Not stirring up shit, am just curious if what you think of her and that her twitter got suspended.
Azealia Banks
I thought she was pretty much in the wrong. She went on a homophobic attack calling Zayne from 1D a token and a fagoot, then attacked a 14 year old, and then said some racist shit about Desi people…It was fucked up, period.
Some people are saying she has dealt with a lot of racism in the music industry which is why she lashes out all the time. Be that as it may, it’s not an excuse. You don’t see Beyonce or Kendrick going off like this and they experience the same racism in the industry all the time. However justified her anger may be, it doesn’t excuse her behavior.
The Irony is, just two weeks ago Black Lives Matter activist DeRay McKesson politely checked her on twitter for calling someone a “fag” and she went off on him.
She was warned about calling ppl “fag” and she dismissed it. She brought this on herself.
Even back in 2014, Ebro from hot 97 tried to warn her about her overall attitude. She did a very emotional interview that basically summed up why she is so angry all the time. Ebro tried to tell her that she is a very talented girl and she should not let her anger about the racism she experienced get the best of her and she ignored him too.
She is no better than Iggy Azalea at this point acting entitled and poppin off on twitter with racist comments.
I’m side eyeing the fuck out of twitter. They want to suspend her account for homophobic and racial slurs but then what’s all this…..
If Twitter is going to suspend her account for racist or homophobic slurs then they need to be consistent and suspend people like this too.
I love this. I have been seeing a lot of people excuse her behavior. Blaming the system of racism and such. While it maybe true the system brings down black women, she is out of control. She is a mess and she needs to seek help.
i reallllly like this
Skai Jackson, 14, literally giving me life and clapping back at Azealia Banks, grown ass woman, after Banks went on an islamophobic, homophobic, ignorant rant towards recording artist Zayn Malik. How embarrassing and shameful to pick a fight with a child (and LOSE mind you). Go on collect them L’s Azealia, K.O.
Honestly tho? Azealia’s edges aren’t the only ones that just got snatched. Consider mine GONE. #JrQueenOfClapbacks
“My memes are more relevant than you😂 now that’s sad” - Skai Jackson 2016
Desi girls slaying the #CurryScentedBitch tag after comments made by Azealia Banks.
Twitter fingers were flying on Friday night after rapper Azealia Banks and activist and Baltimore mayoral candidate DeRay Mckesson began to fight over a certain 3-letter gay slur. After the exchange seen above in part, Banks then fired off a racial slur at McKesson.
@satanshoe I didn’t even know about this when I said she was trash but its right up her alley
I’m about 0% surprised, Azealia is an ignorant, nearsighted fuck.
White girls calling black women’s features ugly,
But they doing this,
They call black female rappers trashy,
But they call white rappers fearless, strong women, original,
They insult black culture but use it for their benefit and to make a statement,
Never going to stop re logging
Ethical question I have- do you boycott arts&entertainment done by people whose principles you dont agree with, or do you think the art&entertainment stands on its own separate from the makers?
This dilemma actually came up not that long ago for me: Lea DeLaria is coming to my uni’s Pride Lecture Series.
Now, do I acknowledge that Lea DeLaria is a lesbian icon who has paved the way for lesbians in this country? Yes.
Do I also acknowledge that Lea, like other white women, has a problem with racism? Absolutely.
To lead a life where I boycott every artist(s) that has principles I disagree with would be miserable and worse, exhausting; I am a lesbian of color and a survivor of rape. I’m convinced 99.9% of the population in the world, if not all of it, must have some questionable principles that impact me negatively.
But some principles are forgivable, like poorly-formed opinions due to passing ignorance. Some others, however, like Azealia Banks’ repeated history of transphobia, homophobia are, however, not. I draw the line at 1) willful, 2) intentionally malicious and 3) repeated instances.
I don’t listen to Azealia Banks anymore.
umm so i heard this (Godzilla Ha by Jay R Neutron) instrumental and then i just put FIERCE by Azealia Banks on top of it
What I learned from the media this week: It doesn’t matter who you are or how you act, if you call out a white girl for culturally appropriation you’re going to get ridiculed for it.
Oops
So, from he has explained to us via Twitter is that Iggy Azalea is not ignorant. She knows exactly what her race can, has, and will get her.
She is very aware of her White Privilege, but chooses not to acknowledge it when faced with the factors of what got her the success she has had.
Told y’all 💅
I SWEAR TO GOD!
yall better not be playing with me like this.
i will delete my blog and my foot ill be in a grinewe
