when James Cameron announced not ONE BUT FOUR SEQUELS TO AVATAR

6 years later and avatar (the james cameron movie) is still completely incomprehensible to me. like you’ve got the highest grossing film in recent history and no one actually enjoyed it beyond “eh. it was okay”

Avatar is such a weird anomaly.  It’s the highest grossing film EVER (not adjusting for inflation) by a huge margin and yet it left virtually no footprint on popular culture.  It had its 15 minutes of fame to the tune of $2.7 billion dollars worldwide, and within a few years it’s like no one remembers it even existed.  You only ever really see it mentioned these days in the context of its record-breaking box office.

Um… Umm… UMMM…

I remember the main character’s name is Jake but that is about it. I can’t think of a quote or anything. I can’t even think of another charecter!

Don’t watch Lord of the Rings, the Hunger Games, or Avatar. At least, not for the archery. Hollywood is stock full of misinformation and misrepresentation about archery. Sadly, not a lot of writers have the opportunity to really delve into the practice. So here is my all you wanted to know primer from how bows are constructed, to lining up and releasing the shot, to treating your friend’s nasty broadhead wound.

ok so this explains why katara and sokka were bundled up in parkas galore while aang was just walking around in his little jump suit like it was a perfect summer evening. I’m so glad this was cleared up. I literally thought Aang’s optimistic attitude is what kept him warm, heavens. 

So you remember the firebender prison? And how Zuko kept his bending at full strength when he was put in the freezer box, which disabled anybody else put in there? That’s because Iroh taught him that airbender trick, just like later he taught him waterbending moves to deal with lightning. Iroh was secretly master of all four elements and passed it on to Zuko without him noticing.

Weren’t Iroh and Ozai, like, the grandsons of Firelord Sozin? It makes sense that Avatar Roku would have taught his friend useful moves from different bending styles. Maybe those techniques got passed from Sozin down to Iroh (who would have been more open to learning them than Ozai) and then to Zuko.
