another thing; i think the reason the criticism towards ariana grande rubs me the wrong way is because she has pushed so hard to promote feminism and equality, but y’all are begging to cancel her over anything. she fired her dancer over her saying the n-word the second she found out, she’s put forth all the effort into rooting for other women and their careers, as well as be an example for young girls that your life doesn’t have to revolve around men, and much more.

the entire rap industry (and most music) is based off of bragging about materialism. the most successful rappers have stable, dedicated fanbases all because of their songs about how much drugs and money they have. ariana grande makes ONE (1) song about money, and y’all are complaining about her promoting capitalism?? fr? or the whole deal with her being cultural appropriative, y’all complain about this but stimultaneously promote nicki minaj who’s entire chun-li concept was textbook appropriation. or stream and buy songs from people who are known to be racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. (the weeknd, lana del rey, etc.) i’m not asking y’all to overlook what she does, but i’m asking that you hold that same energy for EVERYBODY. stop rushing to cancel people that are otherwise good people. ariana grande has a history of being a good fuckin person with good intentions, and she can grow from your critiques and advice. help her GROW.

this post is… ugly.

first of all, the entire rap industry is not built entirely off of materialism and to say as much is a hideous reduction of the entire genre and its artists.

rap has a huge history of being deeply politically charged and confronting inequality, especially when it comes to things like antiblack racism, classism, and police brutality. once more, when songs DO focus on material gain, it’s often because their creators once lived in poverty and fought tooth and nail against a system dedicated to keeping them there.

could it be argued that there are issues pertaining to promoting capitalism in the genre? yeah, sure, but that’s actually a much more complicated subject than you seem to want to acknowledge.

secondly, people are upset because ariana grande is in black face and singing a song that ripped off a black artist—Princess Nokia—while stealing aesthetics from black arists. she is literally profiting off of black people and refusing to acknowledge it. it’s ugly.

all of this shit indicates that she is not, in fact, a good person. people have called her out and she continues to ignore it. that’s not a great look.

people should be called out regardless of who they are when they do shitty things, but going “well so-and-so did THIS” doesn’t… negate when ariana grande is doing.

this^ plus op if you really cared abt Ari and wanted her to cont to be a good person and artist you would want her to acknowledge the problematic things she’s doing and call for her to do better not cry abt how black women are being mean to your white fav

Remember that time Ariana was insulted and groped on live tv at a funeral celebrating a powerful female artist? And everyone was more concerned about how short her skirt was?

I’m honestly disgusted by this. Y’all are complaining about how short her skirt was when this is clearly the larger issue. A freaking pastor groped her at a memorial in a damn church. Why aren’t more people talking about this? What the HELL?

Those comments in the Shaderoom were a mess. Y’all should’ve seen all the people defending him and his status as a “man of God.” Well those same “men of God” are always the ones you have to look out for smh. They were calling it a reach but he could’ve easily threw his arm over her shoulder or on her (upper) back.

It was all on her face, she looked so damn uncomfortable.

Pastors like him are one of the reasons I left the church.

Ariana could have been butt ass naked. No one has the right to touch her.

That’s why I stopped going to church too. People act like pastor can’t do nothin wrong.

Ariana Grande took an awesome stand against sexism and objectification last night on Twitter, relaying a story in which a fan asked if her boyfriend Mac Miller if he was “hitting that.” Grande made it clear that language like that towards women is simply not OK — and continued to engage and educate fans in the replies.

I want to know what Miller’s response was to this fan. Was he quiet or did he laugh? Did he say anything like standing up for her? Idle observer or respectable human. That’s what I want to know.

^ I really want to know this too. 🤔 IMO it’s pretty important for men, especially a significant other to confront that type of behavior.

Literally dying to know how he responded
