he spins to protect his head. this is a technique that’s taught in theatre/stage productions (at least that’s where I learned it) that allows the person falling to face the audience (or camera, in this case) He puts himself in a position to catch his upper body with his arm and carefully lower to the ground. He also executed the buckling of the elbow very nicely, something I can’t quite do yet. Essentially you allow your elbow joint to collapse dramatically while still keeping tension on it so you can lower yourself to the floor on that arm while still looking sudden and dramatic. one things for sure, this took a LOT of practice and many takes to get the angle just right.
