Rush is still bitter that Eli solved the ninth chevron whilst playing a mmorg, and he devoted 2.5 years of his life to it and also ignored his dying wife.....
this scene was such ridiculous wish fulfillment by whichever writer/showrunner was projecting on eli. i get it, brad or joseph or whoever, you had a professor like rush once and hated that he didn't respect your brilliance and always wanted him to say something like this. i get it. but it's kind of secondhand embarrassing.
if they wanted rush to plausibly express this sentiment i'd gladly buy something like "I can't believe I put all that time into programming that idiotic game and HE'S the one who solved it" but that would give rush too much credit. because it's not about the game. it was never about the game

Season 2, as written as my vampire AU. Certain parts will be kept as close to canon as I'm able, others will be completely changed. There's an internal journey of discovery happening here for Young, but the road is sure as hell going to be bumpy along the way! They had all been taught certain things about the Tau'ri: how officers controlled themselves, how they were trained to not allow anger to dictate their actions. The Tau'ri hadn't been slaves to the Goa'uld so there was no way they understood true anger, only something they had slapped the label onto in a feeble attempt to reconcile their actions with a society obsessed with peace and weakness and being wilfully blind. They had not reckoned for him.

Telford's getting better at corralling Rush. Rush is getting better at accepting the help. Together, they might almost make one functioning human being! "It's a bit of hay fever," he hedged, continuing before Rush could interrupt. "But the rules are there for a reason. You want a five minute appointment where she shines a light in your eyes and checks your heartbeat and airway, or you want to let it slip by because it's 'probably nothing' and then end up running around hallucinating again?" Rush pouted at him. He looked wet and pathetic, like a cat who'd fallen into a pond.
