What are the essential Shiva read? I have seen The Question many times, but what other than that?
Beyond Question, I'd say:
- Kelley Puckett and Damion Scott's BATGIRL, issues #7-9, 23 and 25. If Question is the best Lady Shiva ever (and it is), Batgirl is a respectable second, despite a (IMO) lousy dismount.
- Gail Simone and Ed Benes' BIRDS OF PREY, issues #62-67 and 92-95. Great if you want to see Shiva hanging around the DC Universe and has a couple of cool moments.
- Bryan Hill and Dexter Soy's BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS, issues #6-17. The best Shiva has ever been in nearly a decade.
- Denny O'Neil and Ric Estrada's RICHARD DRAGON, KUNG-FU FIGHTER issues #5-18. The beginning. Shiva's original appearances from the 70s. A bit dated and not quite as exciting as other martial arts comics from the time, but Shiva absolutely steals the show every time she shows up. Tons of fun if you can handle the 70s cheese.
- Speaking of 70s, the animated movie BATMAN: SOUL OF THE DRAGON has the best adaptation of Lady Shiva outside of comics yet. It's kinda incredible that that movie even exists, and again, Shiva steals it at every turn.
