After using a Filofax for a few months and then quitting, I spent half a year without using a bullet journal. I don’t remember what made me want to try it again, but I bought this silver Leuchtturm1917 in a store (for now, it’s the only journal I bought in a local store and not ordered online).
This journal didn’t work either, but it was all my fault: I set up the whole journal during the summer, thinking I wouldn’t have time during the school year. It was a really bad idea, but I couldn’t see it at the time.
I used this journal almost everyday for four months, and then I had to teach in another school, further away from where I lived. I was (again) not in the best place mentally, and I gradually dropped my bullet journal, who has months of empty spreads. It then became a notebook, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but it wasn’t its initial purpose.
And also, ghosting in a Leuchtturm1917. I had to stop using black.
It was a nice journal, but I didn’t use it the right way - at least for me. I need to set up my journal a bit in advance, but the whole school year was too much. I didn’t know what worked or didn’t work for me, and I trapped myself in a rigid structure that didn’t match my needs.
So, second bullet journal, second failure.
