Look, from over here, watching them release the name and face of a suspect is insane.
everyone immediately disecting this dudes life and socials and posting pictures of his tits online is fucking terrifying. If he's innocent, and he should be presumed innocent (seriously you guys are trusting the new York cops rn? The ones that shot their own cop and killed two people over a train fare????) then his life is completely ruined by this.
He will be a suspect for life. He will be considered a terrorist for life.
Which is a fucking horror story on its own. But worse, the media released her name and that she was under suspicion of murdering the baby.
It was being debated on the TV every night. There was not a single person in the country who watched the news that didn't have an opinion on it. People were hyper analyzing her phrasing and her demeanor in interviews and deciding she was guilty because they didn't think she was mourning enough. And she was convicted of murder with no evidence, and given a sentence of life imprisonment. Because of public opinion. Because of a trial by media. She served over 3 years in jail. Where everyone thought she had killed her baby.
She was only released when her baby's little jacket was found in a dingo den, which opened an inquiry. 32 years after her baby was killed, her version of events was backed by the coroner.
However. Because of the media clown show that sold a story, there are people 45 years later who are still absolutely convinced that she killed her own daughter. Who hate her violently. Who would beat her if they saw her in the street. Everyone my parents age knows her by name and everyone has an opinion. Even though there were several inquests and coroner's evidence, there are still a LOT of people who believe fanatically that she killed her.
I literally had to sit through my hairdresser talking about how it was a conspiracy and a cover up, that she should never have been released, and that someone should have killed her. Like, last week.
