The fact that Paul is so consistent, so unyielding in his love for John even after all these years, is what makes all of this so absolutely gut wrenching. That John: ever insecure, oh-so tortured and isolated, so sure of his unlovability - found such a gentle, strong-willed, and steady love in Paul is what makes their story the most compelling and important love story in all of music.
These two men fell in love with each other, found a home in each others hearts when the world was a cruel and scary place to be. Their friendship brought forth the absolute best parts of themselves, ultimately resulting in some of the most honest, most devastatingly beautiful music this century has ever seen.
The way in which their story is cut short, ending with brutal grief and loss, just twists the knife even further. These men, who spent their entire adult lives defined by their relationship and collaboration, who were moving through what should have been the first of many conflicts in their partnership, were robbed of any opportunity to make up and start again. The tragic reality of their unfinished, unrequited, unresolved love story is enough to shatter our hearts.
Their story is a story of fate, of poetry, of signs and of love. We know their story because it is our story. It reflects life: the highs, the lows, the love, the loss… it’s all there. It’s why I have been in love with this band for my entire life, it’s why I continue to fall in love with them over and over and over again.
God Bless Lennon/McCartney. God bless The Beatles. Nothing compares.

in my mind i think this was pauls way of having John there with them physically in some sense. He’s wearing a part of him, a part of THEM while working on this song so it really is like it’s all 4 beatles present and together again.
Another part about the documentary that had me FEELING THINGS was hearing johns isolated vocals and having it hit you that wowza thats john lennon and then Paul closing out the documentary by saying “let me just hear john again” god he loves him so much

- The everything about this starting from the songs origin (or how paul received it rather) blows my mind. It had “for paul” written on it, not for yoko or sean or julian or cynthia but paul. that was the last gift from john he got
- You can tell that Paul has thought about this song biweekly since 1980
- It’s Johns final message to Paul and The Beatles’ final message to its fanbase OUCH
- The finality of it all REALLY gets to me sorry to be upset on main guys
- John and Paul harmonizing for the first time in almost 70 years and it’s over the lines “know i love you” “i miss you” “i want you to be there for me”
- The original Now and Then is haunting and so melancholy and our new version is more reminiscent to me but they’re both full of longing and yearning and they want each other so bad
- George’s guitar 🥹 you can tell Paul wanted to pay tribute to not just John but George too
- More on george because i feel like we aren’t talking about him enough ! Ofc it’s a John song but ALL THE BEATLES are on it and it’s like them refined. idk to me it feels like this is something we would’ve gotten in a world where George and John are both still alive and they wanted to all make one final song together
- I really feel like this will be the catalyst for Paul to open up to the public more about the true nature of his feeling for John, it’s so intense and this is the first time we’ve witnessed him reminisce on John in such a raw way
