having a job is very weird bcos by and large your coworkers will be a variety of ages and you will not all be at the same stage of life. your coworker will be like, well I’m off home to spend time with my husband & child, what are you going to do with your evening? and you’re like, well, I plan on playing Rollercoaster Tycoon for as much as it as possible

Lesbians still making posts about how bad it is for bi women to use butch/femme:  We know! We heard u! We’re trying to make our own terms and have them used widespread but we need to get the WORD out for them to be commonplace and that’s hard when literally nobody but bis reblog posts talking about bisexuals lol! It’s not like we all follow each other. At this point the only people trying to take ur terms from you are lesphobes or young bi girls who straight up don’t realize they aren’t generic wlw terms because they haven’t learned the history bc literally no one is out here trying to include and teach bisexual kids shit about their gay lineage, everyone’s too busy trying to push it under the rug.

bi equivalent of femme: doe bi equivalent of butch: stag

So was no one going to tell me- as a bisexual- that we had our own terms that are like Butch and Femme. Or was I supposed to find that out though this post??

I seriously don’t know enough about my own sexuality.

Wait…what?!

PSA for all the Bi. Y’all people out here spreading education.

The next time they tell you Americans are “happy” with their employer provided health insurance remember that that “happiness” is fueled by willful ignorance of what the alternatives are really like and fear of losing what little crappy health care they currently have.

sometimes I hate how much modern clothing is determined to show women’s bodies

like if it’s not skimpy, it’s skin-tight- leggings, skinny jeans, bodycon dresses, etc.

doing historical costuming has made me hyper-aware of just how “on display” my body is when I’m wearing normal modern outfits, and it affects my behavior. don’t bend over to pick things up at work because men will stare at your ass. sit differently so you don’t show stomach rolls. a guy running a pop-up stand next to my shop commented so much on how I had “great legs” that I didn’t wear leggings and skirts- one of my favorite winter outfit combinations -for the rest of the season

there’s a certain freedom in medium-to-long skirts and skirt supports, I find: the freedom to define what people see of my body. men won’t stop being creepy no matter what women wear, but I like that kind of dramatic body re-framing. you don’t get to see my legs and hips, Creepy Guys. you get to see a massive bell skirt, or a bustle, or an upended trumpet flower shape. my body is to be seen only by those I’ve chosen to trust, not the world at large

of course, empowerment is different for different women. some feel comfortable and powerful showing as much of their shape as possible, and I applaud them in doing exactly that. what pisses me off is the pressure from the fashion industry for all of us to be empowered by the same thing…a thing that just so happens to tie in with the diet industry and the cosmetics industry. it’s easier to sell the idea that you have to be hairless and smooth and thin and blemish-free when it’s all on display

sometimes I just wish I could go about in a hoop skirt and a t-shirt that says “fuck off” in delicate script

BEST RESPONSE TO ANY POST OF MINE EVER

THANK YOU

I’ve seen this post a few times now and I just wanted to say that muslimahs (not just hijabis) have been talking about this for a while. This post is great, honestly, but I can’t help but feel a little sad at this posts popularity. Muslimahs will talk about modesty and the concept of hijab and will be called regressive, but once put into a different context the same idea is praised. This is absolutely not shaming the OP or anyone who reblogged this (I feel like taking control of your sexuality is something that needs to be talked about!) but I can’t help but feel like there is a clear line about whose modesty we support and why

every holocaust memorial day, i always ask people to keep romani people in their thoughts, but this year i’d like to clear up some misconceptions that i see every year w/ a psa

  1. romani people are not white. we’re south asian (from northern india), and each subgroup has a unique racial makeup of asian/white/etc, in different amounts. this is also why we vary wildly in physical appearance/skintone
  2. we still face oppression. what we face, especially in europe, can still be constituted as attempted genocide, as we’re forced to live in hazardous conditions or to give away our children, be sterilized, etc just for the crime of being roma
  3. the ‘g slur’ isn’t just an american issue. the reason some european roma prefer the slur is because, in many countries, there is no term for roma that isn’t a slur, and it’s either the g slur or the literal translation of the n word. i’m romanian, and if you used the slur in my hometown, you’d get slapped, since we just use ‘roma’.
  4. we live in every continent across the world. some of the largest romani populations exist in south america, predominantly in brazil. they are no more and no less roma than their european counterparts, and they, like romani in asia, africa, etc all face unique challenges and oppression.

we’re the largest ethnic minority in europe, and yet have almost no political power, no land ownership power (in some places, we’re forbidden from owning land entirely), etc. with very few reputable charities- a lot of us reject charity by principle, as well as there being a general lack of education about us- the best thing you can do to help romani people is to just spread information, and help individuals when you can.

Yes to all and to add one, tone policing. If they can’t think of any other way to dismiss what you are saying, they will critique the way in which you said it. No matter how you said it, they will say you are angry or aggressive.

[Text in the images above written below]

5 Roadblocks people use to shut down difficult conversations about race.

Derailment

“What about Black-on-Black crime?”

“Are Black lives not worth protecting?”

Minimization

“I don’t think they meant it that way when they said it.”

Remind them of intention vs. impact.

Reduction

“It’s not like Black people are the only people dying.”

“No, they aren’t, but Black people are disproportionately dying in this country and all over the world. Can we at least talk about that?”

Tokenism

“My boyfriend is Black.”

Remind them: Having a Black boyfriend doesn’t mean that you’re not racist and in fact the idea that you wouldn’t be racist because you have a Black boyfriend is in fact racist.

Hurt

“I feel really unsafe having this conversation right now.”

“Are you feeling unsafe or are you feeling uncomfortable.”

its may which means happy asian and pacific islander heritage month! reminder to white people that:

1. our cultures and languages are not some hip trendy aesthetic for your instagram

2. dont act like youre an expert in our culture just bc you like, eat pad thai once a week

3. dont use asian names bc you “think they sound cool” or “want to protect your identity” or bullshit like that

4. darkskinned asians are real and exist. so do mixed asians

5. asians are not “poc lite.” racism and colorism have and still do affect us

if i see any of the clownery listed above this month or anytime at all really i will beat you into the ground with my big asian fists!
