Just thought to myself "can't women have a bad time in fiction without rape being involved" which really shows you how much you're in the fucking trenches if you are both a horror fan and women fan
Anyway. There's lot of places for these stories don't get me wrong but HUGE shout out to women in horror stories that have terrible things happen that don't involve: pregnancy, motherhood, and/or sexual assault. You too deserve to have a cronenburg eqsue body horror transformation because you trusted a glowing green liquid to solve your problems
So what makes a butcher knife more butch than other knives?
The knife itself isn't necessarily butch. It's named that because it's wielded by a butcher, who is more butch than the other food shop owners
Hmm, I see.
What, then, makes the butcher more butch than other food shop owners?
the knife

the scary part about getting better is that there's this constant fear that things will go back to what they once were
The only way that Zim and Dib could be remotely even nice to each other is if one of them gives up. so here is that and what i think happens after
Zim channels all that destructive energy into violent familial bonding activities with the Membranes like shooting at santa and such.
Dib takes all his frustration out on mail boxes. which is still a violent familial bonding activity. Gaz just likes family outings in general.
now this is what i’m talkin about. Leaf surfer
badass
you gotta be able to say "die"
you gotta be able to say "suicide"
you gotta be able to talk about "sex"
they're uncomfortable topics, YEAH for SURE
because LIFE is uncomfortable. Death and suicide and sex and pain are straight up going to happen. not having words for the way it discomforts you doesn't make it more comfortable, it just makes you less able to reach out about it.
even more vital, you gotta be able to say words like "rape", "abuse", "queer" or "racist". cause we fought fucking hard to name those experiences. to identify "rape" as distinct from "sex" and "racism" as distinct from "acceptable behaviour" and "queer" as distinct from "invert"
like the function of communication is not to minimise immediate discomfort. we gotta be able to talk about stuff that's hard or sucks or causes difficult conversations.
This is what's so goddamn terrifying about the Internet slowly collapsing into the same 3-5 websites--if Facebook deprioritizes you for saying "sex" and TikTok shadowbans you for saying "suicide" and Twitter X locks your account for saying "racism" we've lost a lot more than just the culture of the old weird internet
Folks in the U.S.:
We just had an election, and that means there are a bunch of campaign signs littered around everywhere. Almost every single one will wind up in a dumpster, but here's a secret: post-election, pretty much nobody gives a shit if you take them.
If you snag one from the side of the road and repaint it, it can say whatever you want. Make your own political signs, or just use 'em as free canvas for art. They're usually made out of corrugated plastic, which is waterproof, and a couple layers of cheap acrylic paint will cover up whatever's on 'em.
I started repainting one today for myself. It's going to say "covid isn't over" on it when I'm finished, and I'm going to use it for a couple upcoming projects for @covidsafecosplay.
Reminder that twitter is now an informal, unregulated (i.e. warrantless) information source for Trump administration use.
using "what were YOU doing at the devils sacrament" to mean "yeah i made an embarrassing reference but you understood it which is also embarrassing" is very funny to me
my favorite part is that absolutely nobody says this except here. so if you use it in public, it's a dead giveaway that you spent the last ten years on tumblr. but then again, they recognized it, which means they were at the devil's sacrament

When I said, I need nine years left of my life to pay back what my father stole from me and my boyfriend said 'take ten'', it really does warp my perception that I'm running out of time everyday to not complete a project, it's paralyzing. Like every time I do reread and rewrites on my hiatus projects, I just think... these will never be finished and I'm certainly running out of time to bother with an Arthurian series I'll expire in the middle of writing if I start now and I know I shouldn't write more than practice scenes without a ton more reading time first and I may never read enough to really 'get' the setting, characters and themes. This is more research for a fictional history than if I'd just write another original project. But at this point so would rereading my whole fanfiction series and replaying the game and brushing up on it's supplemental material too because I'm over a year wiped clean from much of it with illness, trauma, hardship and many deaths in the family.
