💔What's something they can't look at or think about for too long without getting emotional?
Jim: A little photo of his family before the start of the five-year mission. It's a photo taken by an old Polaroid that George Kirk brought back from one of his trips. They are all, his mother, his father, Sam, Aurelan and his nephews, in front of the large family farm.
Jim always starts crying when he stares at her for too long, so he tries to avoid it. However, this photo also gives him a lot of courage and reminds him that he must cherishes every moment.
Spock: An I-Chaya claw that he keeps on his meditation table. It was Sarek who made two pendants with it, after the death of the animal and he gave one to his son, knowing the very special ties they had, I-Chaya and him. It's the only non-logical gift Sarek gave him and it upsets him deeply. Spock is not a material person but this pendant is a part of his soul and apart from Jim, he doesn't let anyone touch it.
💕What seemingly meaningless action of theirs is most beloved by someone close to them? Do they know how much they love it?
Jim: The way Spock leans in his chair to talk to him on bridge, he can always feel his breath brushing his neck and he loves it. The Vulcan knows very well the emotion that it triggers in his lover, he does it on purpose of course.
During meetings and since the Journey to Babel incident, Spock always remains in Jim's field of vision, he moves subtly and almost unconsciously while speaking with his interlocutors so that Jim sees his profile, whatever the distance, and is reassured .
Spock: He loves the way Jim swirls his coffee three times in his cup before drinking it, he finds it very soothing. And when in the morning, after his shower, Jim adjusts the temperature so that Spock enters a warm and comfortable bathroom. Which is useless since the room is programmed to adapt to everyone's body temperature, but it's terribly endearing.
💙How do they show love when they're busy, drained, or otherwise unable to show it to the degree they usually do?
Jim: He rests his forehead against Spock's hands if they're in a private place, otherwise, if they're somewhere crowded, he says Spock's name more slowly than usual and tries to establish maximum eye contact because he knows that the Vulcan is reassured by what he reads in his eyes.
Spock: In public, he closes his eyes slightly to show his fatigue, only to Jim, and thus prove his complete confidence. In private he lightly kisses Jim's fingers if he senses him worried, otherwise he just falls asleep hugging the captain's pillow to him.
💓What makes them more nervous than it probably should? How do those close to them feel about it?
Jim: Spiders! most notably the spiders aboard the Enterprise. Ever since he fell through the patio floor at the age of six and found himself trapped among the webs and insects running over him, he has had the agonizing feeling of being trapped when he see one where it shouldn't be. It gives him cold sweats and he is unable to think of anything else as long as it is in his field of vision. It softens a lot Spock who loves this childish side of the great captain Kirk.
Spock: The uniforms when they're fresh out of the cleaners. Spock hates the absence of familiar smells and feels like he dresses in a strange, cold thing that robs him of his sense of security. Jim finds it adorable and is always careful to prepare the new uniforms so that Spock is more comfortable. Sometimes, when he has time, he even takes care of giving them a quick iron in the morning.
