Blue and Yellow San Antonio, Texas -Start of nerdy photography stuff- I am loving the Topaz Denoise software. Noise (visual distortion) is typically caused by low light conditions and is exacerbated by a variety of factors including your camera settings and the way you process the image. I've sat on this photo for a couple of years because it had a lot of it. I decided to run it through the program and it worked like magic! This software cleans up the noise without sacrificing the integrity of the image. I discovered this program while watching Sigma Sreedharan Fine Art Photography's post-processing timelapse of the supermoon a month ago. The Sky Over San Antonio San Antonio, Texas Hopefully this photo I took last year will give my fellow San Antonians a bit of relief from being sheltered in place. This too shall pass, and the moment it does we will get to hug and kiss our loved ones, enjoy a game or a concert at the Alamodome, ride the river barges along the Riverwalk, watch a show at The Majestic, go to our favorite restaurants, and view the Tower of the Americas from downtown. Weeping San Antonio, Texas A weeping willow arches over a trail at Government Canyon State Natural Area. First real hike for Josette and me, covered 8 miles in 5 hours 😭. Slippery rocks, light drizzle, tired bones, and I loved every minute of it. Josette, I think, loved it too much that she was "inspired" to get hiking gear the same day 😆. The Torch of Friendship Shines Day and Night San Antonio, Texas La Antorcha de la Amistad, a monumental sculpture by Mexican artist Sebastián, was a gift of the Mexican government to San Antonio. According to the artist: The sculpture has many points of view from many angles, which is how he sees the two nations' relationship. "Sometimes it is complex. Sometimes it is harmonious," he said. "But the two countries are always close and always with a complex friendship. That's what I am trying to express with this combination of forms. Hasta La Próxima, Charros San Antonio, Texas Charros run a farewell lap for spectators after an event. These talented ladies seemed one with their charges, all of them dancing in synchronicity. What was amazing to me is they do this while having both of their legs on one side of the horse rather than the traditional riding position. The Asociacion de Charros San Antonio keeps this Mexican tradition alive. They only do a few shows a year and I highly recommend you check them out. Road to the Mountain Culberson County, Texas I was on driver duty on our way back home from El Paso after a long road trip. I looked at the rearview mirror and saw this breathtaking view of the Guadalupe Mountains. I knew I had to stop on the side of the road and try to capture the scene.  While we were all tired, my fellow travelers Josette, John, and Noreen were gracious enough to indulge me. The road was bare except for us but I had John and Josette check each direction just to be safe while I tried to get a good composition. San Fernando Cathedral San Antonio, Texas It's been raining the past couple of weeks in San Antonio and I took the opportunity to test out my new Olympus TG-5 waterproof camera. I've always wanted to shoot in the rain but was afraid to expose my camera to the elements. Taking photos downtown in the pouring rain without worrying about ruining my camera was really cool.
