This a drawing from my series of calligraphy that grew out of little doodles while I was studying Arabic (MSA). This is based on the Arabic word “شجاع” (pronounced “shuja’a”), meaning “brave”.

This drawing is based on the Arabic (MSA) word “شجاع” (pronounced “shuja’a”), meaning “brave” and is part of my Arabic calligraphy series that grew out of the little doodles I used to draw while studying Arabic :)
This is a hand-drawn design in the style of calligraphy I developed by doodling in class while studying Modern Standard Arabic, and influenced by tribal tattoo sensibilities. This one is based on the Arabic word “قوة” (pronounced “qowa”), meaning strength, and shaped to look like a heart. The white space in & around the calligraphy are transparent, so the design will pop on most background colors.
This is part of my “Arabesque” series (forgive the pun, my mother taught ballet for years, lol). This is my own personal style of calligraphy that I developed while doodling in class when I was studying Modern Standard Arabic.
This is based on the Arabic word “قلب” (pronounced “qelb”), meaning “heart.”
Reblogs are always really appreciated!

I came across the original sketch for this piece, and it has this quote from e.e. cummings scrawled underneath it:
“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.”
And that seems especially appropriate this pride month <3
