I almost never post off-topic but yesterday 49 people were killed and countless were injured in a terror attack on two Mosques in NZ. They were killed for being Muslim in a country known for acceptance and multiculturalism.

I am deeply ashamed that one of the accused is Australian.

I am deeply ashamed that some people in positions of power are blaming the victims.

I am deeply ashamed that people who travelled to one of the safest countries in the world could not be safe there.

If you have the ability to donate, please do. If you don’t have the funds please send the families and community your support and talk to friends, family, anyone who is up for it about this horrible attack and what we can do to stop this kind of violence. Terrorists want to cause hatred and fear. Respond by standing strong with love and support for the Muslim community and the family and friends of the victims.

Let the attackers be lost and anonymous in history, but remember the victims and remember their stories. They are the ones who matter.

Many injured people are in need of blood after the horrific Las Vegas mass shooting. Here are some services that are currently taking in blood donations. 200+ people are injured so they’re gonna need a lot. Spread this around so Nevada citizens can know where to go if they wanna donate blood!

The Labor Health & Welfare Clinic on 7135 W. Sahara is also taking in donations.

UPDATE: Over 400 people are injured from this terrorist attack. Lives are on the line and it’s okay if you can’t donate blood due to distance or health reasons but it could really save a life if someone who can donate sees this information.

Whatever laws the US has for these weapons aren’t working. We need better gun control. And we need it NOW.

Guys, I’m not going to ask for your prayers - I myself am not religious, but I am going to ask you to signal boost this. Marawi City in the Philippines has been invaded by ISIS, they are bombing the city and a school zone, and setting detainees free from prisons. 

They say that this is a jihad, but anyone who even has a small understanding of Islam knows that Islam is not violent. 

This is terrorism.

The world needs to know. 

Update 1: They’re exchanging fire from both sides. Electricity is down. Friends are reporting that ISIS members are spotted in the schools and are giving them a few minutes to evacuate before they take over. Filipino media is silent. 

Update 2: Christian teachers are being held hostage. 

Update 3: Hospital staff being detained, ISIS flag has been raised in the city hospital. The fighting occurred not in the outskirts of Marawi, but on its streets, around the city hall and public market.

I’m sorry, I’m stringing together what information my friends are still giving me. I don’t know how long they can keep this up - a lot of them are saying that their phones are dying. 

Update 4: Armed Forces of the Philippines telling people to go underground, airstrikes coming. Mortars are being prepared too.

guys, please keep pakistan in your prayers. this monday (13/02/17), there was a suicide attack in lahore that killed 13 people and injured over 100. yesterday, a bomb exploded in peshawar. and a short while ago, there was a terrorist attack in sindh that killed at least 50 people. 

it seems we’ve been thrown back into the days when we wake up every morning with fear over where the terrorists will strike next and worry ourselves to exhaustion over our safety and the safety of our loved ones and people at large. 

please keep pakistan in your prayers tonight.

BREAKING: Explosions, possible gunfire reported at Istanbul airport

At least one explosion rocked Turkey’s Istanbul Atatürk Airport, multiple news agencies reported on Tuesday, with some sources reporting the blast was accompanied by gunfire. More as this story develops.

Update: Reuters is reporting 10 people are dead and 40 wounded after two suspects detonated suicide bomb devices.

Images allegedly from the scene of the explosion showed major damage at the facility.

1) that this is, first and foremost, an act of homophobia. few major news outlets have mentioned this.

2) that republican politicians have no right to scream TERRORISM when it is they themselves who have encouraged this violence.

3) i never want to hear again how trans people are a danger in bathrooms.

4) that the shooter was virulently homophobic & didn’t celebrate ramadan & that he had a firearm license.

Explosions in Brussels

Around an hour and a half ago there have been two explosions at Brussels Airport and there has been another one at Maalbeek metro station near the EU building. 13 people are reported dead, 35 severely injured(VTM). The terror level is on 4, its maximum, and will be for  months.

Update: Sky News just announced that at least 10 people have reportedly been killed Maalbeek metro blast.

Queen Rania: Let’s Drop The First ‘I’ In ISIS. There’s Nothing Islamic About Them

I think the West is the only place calling them ISIS; the Middle East and elsewhere calls them Daesh. Here’s the thing: Daesh hate being called Daesh. Daesh wants to be called the Islamic State because Daesh thinks it gives them legitimacy and validity. Plus, Daesh is very insulting to them, so I think we should call Daesh Daesh as a fuck you to Daesh.

What does Daesh mean?

Technically, Daesh is an acronym for their full name in Arabic (al-Dawla al-Islamiya al-Iraq al-Sham), but it also sounds very similar to Arabic words meaning “one who crushes things underfoot” and “one who sows discord” (“daes” and “dahes”, respectively) so that’s why Arabs like to call them that.
