Rumbelle “Dark Castle”

So I was looking through my folder of unfinished stuff when I found this cute little sketch of sea wizard Rumple and librarian Belle and I thought why not? And it turned out to be super cute :3 

Summary: Small town librarian falls in love with a sea wizard who magics her fins when she sneaks away to visit him. Original art here.

As your fingers wrap around the worn handle of the town’s only pub, you know it was always leading to this, all your plans and spells, all your schemes and deals, for more than three hundred years, have all led to this.  The Savior has come to unlock your mind and break the Curse, Bae is waiting to be found, somewhere out there in this vast foreign world, and Belle is alive, as cursed and damned as all the rest.  

RumBelle, post-pilot canon-divergent AU. Alternating chapters of second-person as internal dialogue.  Inspired by the song “Sometime Around Midnight” by The Airborne Toxic Event.  Chapter 1 of 3, 3700 words.

As chapter two of this is finally well in hand (and already twice the length of chapter one), I’ve posted the first chapter of my canon-divergent post-pilot Once Upon A Time AU, in which Rumplestiltskin wakes up upon hearing Emma Swan’s name, and then proceeds to be a maudlin muffin.  And then there’s scotch.

The next chapter is coming along well, but I’m a slow writer, so please subscribe for chapter two!

Can we take a moment and see how important this moment is for Rumple?!

He’s there when his brave, adventurous Belle is so very afraid and in need of protection. She needs him. Somebody needs him. For centuries people have come to him to gain something, to have his help, you could even say they needed his magic, but never really him. No one has ever run to throw their arms around him, to seek his physical presence as reassurance. And she is not letting go of him. Even when she looks around for Hook, her hands are constantly clutching at his arms. And she has his undivided attention. He’s not searching for Hook, he’s not scanning the library for potential threat (though I’m sure he’s over that at this point, but still), but his eyes are on her.

Remember what Bobby said on how Rumple wants to be like Charming? How he wants to be the knight in shining armour for Belle? Here is that knight. He gets to say those words, You’ve nothing to fear, I’m here now. He can finally be the hero he thinks she wants.
