So. This is really interesting to me. If absolutely true, that means that they didn’t know they were going to do the whole fake-engagement thing (that’s canon) for HLV, until after TSoT. Which means they were really flying by the seat of their pants. 

Now, that’s how I write. You may have noticed from the fact that there’s a babyfic creeping its way to you in dribs and drabs. I never have any idea where my fics are going. Sometimes I have a vague plot, a vague idea, but most of the time I don’t come up with it until halfway through. Apparently the way Mofftiss did here. 

So I know that method works, because I engage in it, but at the same time, I’m writing fanfiction, and they’re producing a really expensive show. Like, surely they have some idea? But now I feel a little bit like they’re probably exchanging text messages right now that look like this: 

Moffat: hey, did u have any idea what u wanted to do w/the watson baby

Gatiss: no

Gatiss: hahahahaha

Gatiss: i thought u had an idea!!

Moffat: no i thought u had one!!

Gatiss: hahahahaha

Gatiss: we’re hilarious

Moffat: guess i’ll just make something up

Moffat: while i’ve got u, did u have any ideas about y moriarty shows up on the video at the end there? 

Gatiss: hahahaha u think i no everything?

Gatiss: just make something up again

Gatiss: no one’ll notice

moffat is like “i wish sherlock could have a girlfriend i wish i could do that but i can’t because he is gay”
