Vero Navarro’s Kraft Paper Illustrations
Born and raised in La Mancha, Spain, Vero Navarro is a freelance illustrator currently based in Madrid. In 2006 she earned her degree in Fine Arts from the University of San Carlos in Valencia. Her body of work encompasses delicate and realistic renderings of the human figure, fauna, flora, architecture, and everything in between. With colored pencils in one hand and digital techniques in the other, Navarro’s stories spring to life on simple, toothy kraft paper, depicting narratives that examine the human condition through inner struggle
The Great among these spirits the Elves name the Valar, the Powers of Arda, and Men have often called them gods. The Lords of the Valar are seven; and the Valier, the Queens of the Valar, are seven also. These were their names in the Elvish tongue as it was spoken in Valinor, though they have other names in the speech of the Elves in Middle-earth, and their names among Men are manifold. The names of the Lords in due order are: Manwë, Ulmo, Aulë, Oromë, Mandos, Lórien, and Tulkas.

How cool is it that when you take all the cells out of an organ it still looks like an organ?
I remember when I was in high school and still very confused about how tissues worked, because all anyone taught me was that we’re made up of piles of cells hung on bones. But that’s not how it is! Cells build themselves little hammocks of polymer and densely branched glycoproteins; we’re like onions, layers of membrane over tough rubbery collagen, huge protein scaffolds cradling slippery organs.
Bodies are not made of cells — bodies are made by cells.
