Hey everyone!

Okay, so I’m not in the business of asking for help, I really hate to…but I’m getting a tad desperate. If you’ve followed any of (admittedly few) personal posts I toss up on here, you may know that my boyfriend has been struggling with the VA to get his PTSD benefits and treatment after serving in the Marine Corps over in Afghanistan. Well, that claim’s been in the works for 4 years and we’re still fighting, but the government shutdown has completely halted the claims process.

Despite that I work full time, it’s tough to pay all the bills by myself. This weekend, my boyfriend’s car was repossessed. I’ve put a hold on costuming and have only been attending conventions without buying passes to offset the expenses, but it hasn’t been enough.

So, I’ve put up an Etsy listing for a Halloween special of my mermaid fins that I offer to make on commission. It’s $50 off and I’ll get it to you in the US by Halloween. If you want one after Halloween, you can place an order and I’ll be happy to re-list it for you. If it’s after Halloween, keep in mind I make them in any color and even some style variations (side fins, long train, etc).

Even if you can’t buy one, reblogging will really help me out :) I also take commissions for dresses and gowns, including wedding gowns. Just shoot me a message and I’ll be happy to work with you.

Thanks so much for any and all help and reblogs! I wouldn’t be asking if I didn’t truly need your help!

I will reblog this everyday until midterm elections come around, if that’s what it takes, so help me god.

“You know your ideology is rigid and outdated when the head of the organisation that just got around to apologizing to Galileo shows more doctrinal flexibility than you.”

And I invite any Christian conservatives who oppose ACA/Obamacare and believe the government shutdown is a valid response to ensuring healthcare is available to all to go re-read Matthew chapter 25.

Spoiler alert: Jesus says point blank that you’re going to hell.  Congratulations.

Asshole of the Day, October 12, 2013: Ted Yoho

As the government shutdown finishes its second week, there’s still plenty of GOP assholes determined to say really stupid things. Yesterday it was Rep. Ted Yoho being asked about whether furloughed employees should get back pay:

Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) said Thursday evening during a telephone town hall that he agreed with a caller who said furloughed federal employees who work should be paid, but not those who “are home watching Netflix or whatever.”
“Well, when we voted on that they were supposed to come back to work as part of that deal,” Yoho said. “I agree 100 percent with you. If they’re not working, they shouldn’t get paid.”

So his position is if I voted to shut the government down, then you shouldn’t get back pay unless you worked during the shutdown. Those people have mortgages and families to feed, and they didn’t choose to stop working. And we’ve always paid backpay after other shutdowns.

And the icing on the cake for this moron is that he voted with his entire caucus just last week to approve back pay for all government employees, whether they worked or not. So, really, which is it, asshole? You can’t even make up your mind how you want to be an ass on this one.

So, Imagine that the company you work for held a poll, and asked everyone if they thought it would be a good idea to put a soda machine in the break room. The poll came back, and the majority of your colleagues said “Yes”, indicating that they would like a soda machine. Some said no, but the majority said yes. So, a week later, there’s a soda machine. Now imagine that Bill in accounting voted against the soda machine. He has a strong hatred for caffeinated soft drinks, thinks they are bad you you, whatever. He campaigns throughout the office to get the machine removed. Well, management decides “OK, we’ll ask again” and again, the majority of people say “Yes, lets keep the soda machine.” Bill continues to campaign, and management continues to ask the employees, and every time, the answer is in favor of the soda machine. This happens, lets say… 35 times. Eventually, Bill says “OK, I’M NOT PROCESSING PAYROLL ANYMORE UNTIL THE SODA MACHINE IS REMOVED”, so nobody will get paid unless management removes the machine. What should we do??? Answer: Fire Bill and get someone who will do the fucking job. Bonus: Bill tells everyone that he was willing to “Negotiate”, to come to a solution where everyone got their payroll checks, but only so long as that negotiation capitulated to his demand to remove the soda machine. Bill is a fucking jackass.
