Professor Mike Sellers, 29 June 1961 - 27 June 2022

We have been so touched by the outpouring of love and sympathy in the days since Mike Sellers’s passing. As we deal with the immediate needs and plan for a memorial service in the coming months, we want to ask that, instead of sending flowers or cards, all of you who knew and loved Mike please email any photos and/or stories you have of him to [email protected] so that we can collect as many memories of him as possible. All photos of Mike are welcome, on his own or with others, and the stories may be humorous, uplifting, or meaningful in any way. If possible, please include date and location info, as well as any other context. We are planning to include these at the upcoming memorial so that we can truly celebrate the fullness of Mike’s life, but if you would like your stories or photos to be kept private or be presented anonymously, please let us know.

In honor of his many years of teaching and leadership, the Sellers family has established the Mike Sellers Memorial Fund through the IU Foundation, to benefit the students of the Game Design program Mike helped found at Indiana University. The endowment will assist in sending IU students to the Game Developers Conference every year, continuing Mike's tradition of mentoring the next generation of game creators.

Bloomington, IN, Sun 29 Jan 2017 Some pictures I took at the local protest against Drumpf's immigration ban last week. There were easily 500+ people there when I got there, and facebook had over 1k rsvps. Getting up to Indianapolis is hard for me, so I hope we can have more demonstrations right here in Bloomington. There were so many dogs! And not a single pro-drumpf person that I saw, which is maybe surprising for Indiana, but really not that surprising for Bloomington :)

Not only do I have all of next week off from school, but both of my classes today are canceled because the teachers were like ‘fuck it I know none of you fuckers are going to show up anyway happy fucking holidays’ srsly this place is the best

Finally got over to the campus GLBT house today, which I've been meaning to do for a while. Talked to one of the people who run it, signed up for the mailing list, looked around their library (they have a library entirely devoted to queer issues!!!! With movies and books and documentaries!!!! Which you can check out!!!!!!! Aaaaaahhhhh) Aaaand then i sat down & talked to them about the Ace group I'm trying to start out here. I had no idea what sort of reception I'd get, but the person I talked to was nothing but positive. They proudly showed me the one book on asexuality they have in the library (there's a second one, but it's apparently checked out atm) and were really excited about the prospect of having some real live asexuals to share more resources with them. It kinda seemed like I was maybe the first ace, or one of very few, anyway, that this person had ever actually met, lol. I was honestly just glad they'd even heard of us, and that I didn't get the cold shoulder right off the bat. They have a bulletin board there of various queer groups on campus & around town, and said if I brought them info for my group, they'd happily put it up too. So yay, larger queer community! Yay, possibility of wider representation soon! Just generally yayyyy~

MLTYS updates

I have finally made it to my new home in Indiana, with much more driving time than originally expected, hence the lack of update. I am hoping to have ch16 up before the next scheduled bi-wieekly update, and then be back on schedule after that. All of my stuff was on the first moving truck that already arrived (yayyy), and we managed to get our internet set up already (yaaaayyyyyyyy), and I have six weeks before school starts again (woohoo), but there is still much unpacking, shopping, and general moving-to-a-new-state-and-school logistics that need to be worked out in that time. Soooo... this chapter is late, but hopefully not much longer, and hopefully it'll be the last off kilter update for a while. Wish me luck!
