Many injured people are in need of blood after the horrific Las Vegas mass shooting. Here are some services that are currently taking in blood donations. 200+ people are injured so they’re gonna need a lot. Spread this around so Nevada citizens can know where to go if they wanna donate blood!

UPDATE: Over 400 people are injured from this terrorist attack. Lives are on the line and it’s okay if you can’t donate blood due to distance or health reasons but it could really save a life if someone who can donate sees this information.

Link above broken; new info here

Reblogging this again to add some pertinent links, because I couldn’t find one definitive roundup post. A note: Blood banks in Orlando are reporting that they are AT CAPACITY and urge people to make appointments to return in the coming days. Blood has a shelf life. Also, unfortunately, no FDA bans have been lifted, which means gay men are still restricted from donating. I agree, that’s horrible. The Washington Post has a large collection of links and information which is updating as news develops, including articles to send your racist relatives who insist this attack wasn’t homophobic in nature. It was.

Need to talk?

You can call The Trevor Project at (866) 488-7386. The Trans Lifeline in the US: (877) 565-8860 and Canada: (877) 330-6366. Scarleteen is open all day. You can text them at (206) 866-2279.

Want to donate?

Equality Florida has set up a GoFundMe for victims of the Pulse shooting. This is the best place to donate. You can donate to Orlando hospitals through the Orlando Health Foundation. The Orlando Youth Alliance provides services to LGBTQ+ youth. The Center is Orlando’s largest LGBTQ+ organization and is taking donations.

Remember, even the shooter’s father insists this was not based on religious beliefs or ideologies. Do not use this horrific incident as an excuse to attack Muslims. These were the actions of one person driven by hate. Don’t perpetuate that hate. The Medium has posted a guide to contacting your local representatives about gun control, which you should if you are able to.

Also as some other people have pointed out, remember that you can donate blood in other locations across the country and they will ship the blood to Orlando as needed! Blood banks literally ship to each other from all across the country, so donating wherever you are is just as important as in the Orlando area, especially as the blood banks in Orlando fill up with people trying to donate.

Especially if you have either of the blood types they're specifically looking for (O pos & O neg last I checked), donating at your local blood bank allows them to sort out & gather up just those types to send to Orlando as first priority, rather than the folks in the Orlando blood banks having to simply go through all their local donations & hope they get what they need.

this is not househunting related whatsoever but i have 90k followers and i know many of you live in florida:

Orlando hospitals are in massive need of blood donations after the unbelievable hate crime/terrorist attack (50 dead, 50+ injured) that happened at a gay club last night.

“There is an urgent need for O Negative, O Positive and AB Plasma blood donors following a mass shooting in Orlando, Florida,” said the news release from OneBlood.

please, if you can, head over to a donation center today, and boost this post.

Four local OneBlood banks are open today 8 a.m.-4 p.m.:

-Orange Park Donor Center 2153 Kingsley

-South Jacksonville Donor Center 8013 Beach Blvd. (near Parental Home Rd.)

-West Jacksonville Donor Center 5209 Blanding Blvd.

-Mandarin Donor Center 10501 San Jose Blvd

As a blood banker I want to make it clear that ***YOU CAN DONATE ANYWHERE AND STILL HELP THE VICTIMS OF THE ORLANDO SHOOTING!*** Most Donor Centers in the Orlando area are currently extremely overwhelmed and can’t take any more donors. Blood Banks across the country ship blood products to each other whenever there is a crisis need somewhere (and on a regular basis just to keep inventory levels steady). When there was a critical shortage this past winter in Massachusetts, we received products from Texas, Florida, Ohio, and other states to help us! I guarantee that all over the country Blood Banks are getting calls from Florida to send any excess they have, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to a donor center near you and donate blood or platelets if you can!
